We are holding a date at our dream venue. (I'm registered on here with a fake date just as a placeholder!). I am SO stressed because we are still working out the financials.
Did anyone else feel like this? I want to be absolutely certain we can do the wedding of our dreams with the budget we have. But, I'm getting impatient and just want to secure my date!
Was everyone super super planful? Did anyone take a leap and figure they would cut corners and make it work?
I think the most important part of the wedding to us is the location .... we are not willing to settle for a 'factory wedding' ... we don't want cookie cutter ...
ETA: We have been engaged since 6/30 ... It doesn't seem like a long time, but I feel like we can't get the planning started without a date.

NO wedding date yet!
I felt the same way...we got engaged on 6/1 and booked about two weeks ago. We held our location and then sat down and had a true heart to heart about finances. I have every number written down and figured out how much we had to save to make it all work. Turns out that after we figured out all of the numbers that we would have to push the wedding off by three months. Not too bad and now I have an October wedding which happens to be the month we met and my grandparents anniversary (I have her engagement ring so that thrilled me).
My suggestion is plan a night in...we took a satudaynight...had some drinks, played some music and made what should have been a stressful conversation a lot of fun.

Aww!! Where are you hoping to get married? I think that you should not compromise on where you are envisioning your wedding. If location is the most important to you than do what you can to make that happen and if that means that other things for your wedding are budgeted that is fine!! It will all work out.

Re: NO wedding date yet!
this just gave me chills.
i love your idea ... you are so right. i am stressing over this and i know we can figure it out if we both just relax a little bit.
i also pushed our date off a bit because of $$ ... and i think i am even more in love with the new date than what I had thought I originally wanted.
my mother is helping A LOT, probably about half, which is way more than I ever thought she would be able to do, but I would assume FH & I will be paying about half as well. we just need to get ourselves straightened out, and I think we will be fine! (and i'll finally have my date!!)

You are off to a great start and like you said 'I am even more in love with the new date' ... Everything works out the way it is supposed to! Once that deposit is made and you have your dream location and date locked down...the fun part begins! Enjoy these moments!!

THIS!! I feel like location is SO important. It really sets the tone for the day.
Thanks for the reassurance! I really need it today.
I am also overly superstitious so I can't mention the venue until we have it locked in! LOL

Yes! I feel you! Took me a month to negotiate the price with our venue for my fiancé to agree to it..lol. During that waiting period we went to look at other venues and I just wasn't impressed cuz my heart was set on my dream venue. Good luck!

We also wanted to know we could have our 'Dream Wedding' so for us it meant finding a Venue where would could get a HUGE deal. I didn't want to cut back on all the other details because the Venue put us over the edge. In the end, I love where we booked, and I'm glad we didn't go for a traditional hall that would have made our Budget tight. So you just go with your gut, I think you've made some great choices. And let us know when you have officially booked!

we unfortunately saw this venue second ... and then saw two others after. each other venue paled in comparison. i know i have a big job ahead of me negotiating the contract ... i just need to get to that stage! haha
and thank you!

I don't think we'd be able to have it all - but I am very willing to cut some of the extraneous details if it means having the wedding at this venue. Fortunately, it is the kind of place that requires little in the way of decorating and even less during the time of year we are probably going to go with!
I'll keep everyone posted!

I definitely felt the same as you did. We got engaged on 6/8 and I booked my venue about 2 weeks ago. I definitely took a leap of faith in terms of finances. My parents are helping with a good amount, which definitely helps, but we're still paying for about 3/4 of it which is a lot of money. We don't have it saved up right now, but like some of the other girls said, we discussed finances and figured out how much we could (and would be willing to) put away, and we're just making it work!

This is my situation to a T ... I know we can do it. We will figure it out and make sure it happens. Love that I'm not alone in this!

I totally understand! I got engaged on 4th of July, so a couple days after you:) Take your time and if it's your dream venue, don't settle! This is YOUR day that you will always remember! You can cut corners in other areas if the venue is the most important part to you. Maybe cut an entree or a few items from cocktail hour to lower the cost or get married in an off month (November, December) or day time. Day time weddings can be soo pretty and whimsical!

FH and I mulled over the decision a lot and my parents are making a substantial contribution. I knew what I wanted, but didn't want to be stressed and scrounging for money days before the wedding. We sat and budgeted, figured out how much we needed to contribute weekly from paychecks to our wedding savings etc. Nothing is guaranteed. In the end we were like 'Screw it!' We want this and we'll find ways to compromise and make it happen. It'll be stressful nut you'll figure it all out!
