I think you need to re-read my post. Although, I am no fan of Bush I did not start this post to hate on him (or to lament the election) but to ask how we are going to deal with this huge faux pas made by his administration which in turn reflects terribly on us as nation. But I realize trying to intellectually engage on a topic with someone like you is a complete waste of time.

I wonder how well your childish emoticons would go over with someone who lost a family member in this war... I guess they're crying over spilled milk too? Hmmm?

I've said my piece and you are certainly entitled to yours. I just want to make it clear I am not talking about the election. I am simply expressing how disheartened I am about what has gone on in Iraq. Enough said.

thunderous applause from me!!!

More thunder from over here! Brava!

Although this post is really very sad.

oh, I agree, it's sad and it's terrible and I HATE the entire situation!!!
But the fact is that my brother is risking his life in Iraq because some jerk said there were WMD ....so it really pisses me off when people try to make light of it with a silly crying smiley face.....
and it makes me very very happy when someone puts said person in his place

I am so sorry about your brother! My uncle is there and we don't even know where exactly. We used to get calls from him and an email once in a while but then he said he'd be 'Unavailable' and that was a month ago. He's in the Army. Is your brother in the Army? All 4 of my grandparents (grandmas too!) served during WW2 and even they are not for Bush. People dont understand that you can be against this war and very pro military. I could go on and on about how we treat our vets, it makes me so angry...we are so lucky to be where we are and we take it way too lightly when it's someone else going to war.

Then i can see how you understand what I feel Your grandmothers were in the war - that's the best!!

He's a Marine.....the craziest of all of them from what I understand!
Luckily, my brother is in constant contact with us...through email and phone calls. We are VERY lucky!!!
He is pro-Bush, as are my parents and other brother....but my sister and I are not.....we all have our reasons....but nevertheless, we're all pro-military around here!
and it breaks my heart to hear people speak about how great Bush is becuase they got a freakin' taz break when I have to deal with my brother facing death every minute of his life....

palebride and cluelessbride,

With all my heart, I wish your family members a safe return home! I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you both. It is unfortunate that our people can be so insensitive to the situation of their fellow Americans.

I'd respond to this... but i'd rather piss into the wind.

All the bitching in the world doesn't change the fact that you are stuck with the same guy in the office for the next four years.

Oh well.

Re: NO WMD!

It seems as though there are two different conversations going on here. I find it interesting that when people are questioned by others and they don't have a response they often find some other insignificant issue to wave at others rather than addressing than the one at hand. Or better yet they engage in the highly mature behavior of teasing and insulting others (including those who have family members serving our country overseas) . I would say in this instance 'pissing at the wind' truly is the appropriate thing to do.

It is unfortunate that expressing concern for the well-being of our troops abroad is interpreted as 'bitching'. Now I think even Bush and many of our servicemen and women might be offended by such a comment. Doesn't sound too patriotic to me.

Oh please. I have seen your prior posts from the past knocking this administration. You didn't start this thread to express 'concern for the troops'. Look at your original post.

We all need to thank our wonderful prez for officially telling us what he knew a long time ago.

How is he going to clean up this mess?I guess it's just another notch on Bush's belt for the many ways he continues to mislead the American public. JMO.

This thread was started to knock the president and all the 'notches' he has under his belt... and asking him how he plans on 'justifying' this war because we have people dying over in Iraq.

And i'll take this even a step further... all you are looking to do in this thread is gloat over the fact that you were right that there were no WMD's out there.

Well everyone... lets all give Lanakai a big 'thunderous' applause as Palebride would say for stating the obvious. LOL

Don't try to change the tone of the thread just because you can't accept the fact that we have this president in office.

And I do respect everything the armed forces are doing over there. Hell... one of the guys that works directly under me served in Iraq for a year (he just returned to Fort Drum last week).... I should have him back in the office on the 1st.

The possibility of WMD's were not the only reason why we went to war... even though you would like to think that.

Bottom line is... the President 'justified' (i'll use your wording) this war because I will quote the president 'The world is a safer place without Saddam Hussain in power'.

Saddam had no problem harboring Al Qeida terrorists... and that threat had to be eliminated.

You are welcome to diagree with the reason WHY we went to war. But if you are going to disagree... make sure you know the FACTS of what you are disagreeing on... before you disagree.

Re: NO WMD!

DJ0 I don't really see how discourse is 'bitching'. In our country I think no progress will ever be made no matter how is president unless we talk about what's going on, whether it's good or bad. Otherwise, who is there to elect, what is the basis? Your suggestion is that we ignore the governemtn and let them do their thing and sing their praises, and anyone sho shows dissent is a crybaby. With all due respect, I think it's pretty ignorant to think that way,. I think it's ignorant to just accept the way things are. If oyu like it, and you think it's great that we invaded iraq even though there were no WMD's, or if you love your tax cuts, that's great, and that's one thing, and so is not liking the way things are. The important thing is to have an opinion and have the freedom to express it.

But oh fellow classless one. I have no problem with debating new topics and such.

But laiakai is posting the same winded stuff about how crappy this president is just like she was doing the election. If you don't believe me... i'll simply do a search.

Its just getting OLD in my opinion.

Sometimes I wish Bush didn't win... cause I am starting to wonder if listening to all the whiny people is worth four more years. LOL

I love people who call you a whiny crybaby everytime you disagree with them.
As if their opinion is the only one that mattered.
As if they are the only person allowed to have a thought.
And, as if once, they share that thought, disagreement is simply not an option.
As if their situation in life is the only one that matters.
People continue to amaze me.......

Re: NO WMD!

DJ that is an amazing attempt at interpretation (regarding my post). But not a well done job. Like I said again I am not fan of Bush and I have no problems criticizing him, but I did not start this post for that reason.

So trying to make this about the election to justify your misguided statements does not wash.

As for your comment about the war's justification you yourself need to learn how distinguish between fact and opinion. Stop relying on rhetoric in the news, consider reading a book or two, or maybe perusing altenative sources of media and you might reconsider your ill-formed theories about the 'terrorist' threat and our presence in Iraq. If your logic truly holds we ought to be in many more places than we are now and Iraq would be low on that list relative to these other places.

So I just put on your thinking cap and do a little thinking.

Instead of using your little icon friends why don't you respond with actual grown up words?

It is much easier and a bit of a cop out to reply with a violin icon than to say what you mean by it...which I am assuming is that you could care less about her situation and opinion.

DJ, I'm going to have to play your card here when i say that, although I understnad how much you want all of this arguing to go away, and what you perceive as whining to to stop, you don't actually have to read the posts that have to do with politics. When you saw wo posted and what the topic was, you knew what the content would be, you could ahve stayed away. But I know, you'd rather just be a troublemaker.
