No wraping paper for shower gifts?

No wraping paper for shower gifts?

Im planning a shower with two other girls. One of them suggested that we include - no wrapping paper somplace on the invites.

Has anyone done this? How would you incorporate it. While I like the idea Im not comfortable with it. I dont like to even mention gifts on an invite but after all it is a shower.

I've seen this at a jack and jill shower...where they asked to wrap in clear wrapping...the presents were not opened...(my mother would die if she went to a shower like this)

but I feel as a guest not wrapping..is kind of like just asking for my present...

I'm not really sure how I feel about it

I don't get it. Why would someone want to do this?

are they asking for no wrapping paper because they are enviromentaly concious and they feel that wrapping paper just fills up the land fills??? or they do not want people to sit around and watch the bride open her gifts??? Seems kind of strange to me!

If they work for the EPA then fine, if not, don't suggest that. People LOVE to wrap their gifts and see them unwrapped. I bet this is to save time, right? Don't do that.

I feel like wrapping paper is such a waste of money and paper. This wouldnt bother me at all. Some people would probably be offended because it looks like you are asking for gifts. But then that's what a shower is anyway.

I think if the gifts are displayed on a nicely decorated table it would be ok. And it would give more time for the bride to socialize with everyone.

I personally think its more exciting (for the bride anyway) to open gifts. If you automatically see everything you're getting its a little anti- climactic. Who doesn't love ripping that paper off presents?

My aunt went to a shower where there was a note attached that said all presents should be in a clear wrapping. The reason for this was that the they did not want to waste time opening all the gifts, since there were over 100 people at the shower.

I think its nicer when they are gift wrapped. People can help her open it to speed up the process if she has too many gifts.

That is strange. I LOVE opening gifts. The more paper to wrip off the better for me!! I sometimes open my sister's X-mas presents because she is sooo slow and tries to be neat about it! LOL Personally I would be upset if I couldn't open my shower gifts. It takes away from the surprise of the gift if it isn't wrapped.

Thanks Ladies
Well the bride hates showers in general and she finds the gift opening part unbearable. Now we all know her tune will change when the gifts are hers . I think the suggestion was made more in consdieration of time than anything else. Since I am doing the invites I think I will just pass on it.

I love wrapping paper...
its always fun at christmas with the paper fight after the gifts are opened..
my sister didnt want a shower, but she had lots of fun opening up gifts..
i think you might confuse guests by writing that..

Yeah I wouold pass on that. I love picking special wrapping paper and making bows so the presents look exactly like I would like.

I dont know about that. I mean, even if you hate being the center of attention, you can just s uck it up for a few hours and do it, appreciating that all the guests took the time to pick out gifts and make it special for you. If it's in the interest of time, unless it's some exorbitant # of people at the shower, it gets done. I've never seen a shower not work out when it comes to the gifts.

I vote for wrapping paper!
