Non-Catholic wedding

Will a church still baptize your children if your marriage was not a Catholic ceremony performed by a priest?

Yes! Your marriage has nothing to do with the baptism of a child. As long as one of you is Catholic. My FH and I were not married when our child was baptized.

Thanks so much! I heard some churches will give you a hard time if you weren't married there (or in a church in general).

I hate to tell you this but the catholic church in my small upstate town would not baptize my son. My ex-husband & I were not married in the church, I was his 2nd marriage and I am not catholic, so he told us no. The only way he would do it was for us to have his previous marriage annualled, me convert and get remarried in the catholic church. He said until all of that happen, my son did not exist in the eyes of god!!! I told him goodbye and when to the methodist church up the road!!!

I know all of the churches are different, that was just my experience them them and it wasn't a good one.

My dad is Jewish and my mom is Catholic. They were married in a non denominational church with a rabii and a minister. The Catholic church did not recognize their marriage, BUT I was baptized in a Catholic church. The church does not recognize my godfather because he's Jewish, but my godmother is Catholic so you really don't even need 2 Catholic godparents...apparently as long as one of them is Catholic, you're good to go (at least in the church where I was baptized).

Good Luck!

Honestly it depends on the church. I was able to be a godmother to my niece in a Catholic church even though I didn't make my confirmation. When my 2nd nephew was born years later there was a different priest there who wouldn't allow it. I've heard many people say they weren't able to baptize their child in a catholic church if they weren't married in one. You might want to ask your church this question as it seems to vary from church to church but it may also depend on the beliefs of the priest at the time anyway.
