Non-Gifters

Non-Gifters

So I was reading a post from BHB and saw something about bridal party not having to give gifts for the wedding. That would explain why I didn't get one from any of my girls and I was totally fine with that. But is this the norm?

It makes sense to me, but I've always given more when I was in the bridal party! SO I don't think it is the norm.

I wouldn't feel right doing it. I would have to give a gift.

We got gifts from everyone in the bridal party except one BM - I saw her for the first time yesterday and she brought it up and said she hasn't gotten us our gift 'yet'

We got gifts from like 3 or 4 people in our bridal party. That was it.

So wasn't sure if it was normal or not. And a couple of 'I forgot to give it...I'll send it to you'

Everyone in my bridal party gave us great gifts, except my brother.....not even a card. He paid for my hotel room the night before the wedding so I figured that was the gift but no card????

hmmm, all my BM's gave us generous gifts, and i do too if i was in the BP. We had 2 GM's give gifts off our registry and 1 gave us a painting that he painted which DH loved and was more than enough for us considering he traveled all the way from Japan for us!

Re: Non-Gifters

We got gifts from our whole bridal party, and I would be upset if we hadn't received a little something. I understand that you have to spend money on a dress etc, but in my eyes when you agree to be in a bp, you realize the cost involved when you say yes.

I know I sound terrible, but I feel it's a good friend then they should want to be able to give you something even if it's tiny. At the very least a card.

ETA: I always feel I have to be extra generous when in a BP

I had some give me cash gifts, one gave me an actualy gift and one no gift at all, although her card said it was coming in the mail. Never came though.

we got gifts from our BMs & GMs. I would def give a gift if i was in the bridal party. I dont know unless someone is really broke I dont think being a BM is an excuse not to give a gift. yes u have to pay for a dress etc but then dont agree to be a BM.
