What is everyone's opinion on this? I'm not sure how I feel about the girls all wearing different dresses, but it's also tough to find a dress that looks good on everyone. For people who decided to go this route, were there any rules (same color, designer, fabric, etc ...)?
Thanks!

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
For my cousins wedding next month, she has 7 in her BP, all with very different body types, so she went with separates. We all have A line skirts but we were able to choose different tops to accomodate everyones taste and body types. They are all from the same designer, same color, same fabric.

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
The only thing I asked of my girls was that it be the same color and length. You're right about it being tough to find something that looks good on everyone, unless you happen to have BMs who all have the same body type, and since they're spending so much money anyway, I figured it was important for them to feel comfortable in their dresses.

Goldi1021 did this and her BMs looked beautiful. She kept it to one designer, same color, same fabric.

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
I want to do this for my girls.. where its seperates...Everyone has the same A line skirt and than they get to choose the top they want. A friend of mine had it and all the girls looked so nice.. it was a summer wedding and they wore Yellow.. It looked really nice with a TAN.

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
Try looking at the photo album on the Aria Dress website. Aria is a really popular BM dress company with brides in Boston...There are lots of pictures of BMs in different dresses on their website.
I love this idea! I think it looks really nice too! My sister is my MOH and she is 5' 10' and one of my BM's is only 5' tall! Some dresses will look great on my sister may not look so great on my shorter BM and vice versa of course. This would allow everyone to choose something they felt comfortable in!

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
I was planning on doing this originally, going with Impressions separates and having everyone pick their own top. When I went shopping though with 2 of my bridesmaids (my 15 year old cousin and my 30 year old conservative MOH) they both fell in love with the same one piece dress.

My girls all wore the same color and material, floor length dress, but they could pick any style they wanted, there was like 5 styles to pick from. It worked for us

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
All my girls are wearing the same color/fabric, same length and same designer. Otherwise I didn't care what style (strapless, spaghetti straps, etc etc) they got. Since they all have very different body types, I cared more about making them feel comfortable in what they were wearing than having them wear something that I liked that only looked great on a few of them.

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
I did this. At first I was stressed about finding a designer that would have a good selection.
I chose the designer, the color, and the fabric. I have 6 Bm and 2 MOH My Bm are wearing 'cloud' , jolie satin from Bari Jay. in tea length. My 2 MOH are wearing the same but in full length dresses.
The styles they chose are in my album.
I think it will look pretty in pictures and little more natural than having everyone look exactly the same. Last time I dress the same as my friends was during pledging (and that was not by choice)

Re: Non-Matching Bridesmaid Dresses
I did this, too. I chose the designer and the color, and my only other requirement was that they choose something that is floor-length, so that their shoes don't have to match. It was so much better because each girl can choose what type of dress matches her body type and it looks great in pictures! I went with Alfred Angelo as the designer because he had a huge range of dresses and they're all pretty reasonable.
