Non traditional Wedding site??

Hi.. can anyone help? I wanted a nice place with no ugly carpeting and no ugly window treatments.. i was trying to stay away from the traditional wedding halls but nothing was in our price range. wanted to stay under $150 per person.. Looked at like 20 places so far and we like 3. The tides estate (NJ), DeSeversky Center (Long Island) and the VIP Country Club (WC).. any other suggestions??? Want to do a Fall wedding with 150 people.. so hard with a sat night wedding b/c so many places have minimums..

Help!!!

I've never seen in in person but I heard good things about Gurneys and that would be something different.

I used to work at Raphael Winery in Peconic and that is certainly different and the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Pricey, but you can get much better deals if you are willing to get married in the off season.

Try Metropolitan. It's super contemporary and has everything you are looking for!

are you set on fall? there are probably lots of places you could do an outdoor ceremony and reception with great views - but fall might be too chilly for something like that

Re: Non traditional Wedding site??

we like september.. even labor day weekend. so i think the weather won't be too chilly...

Also, have you checked Riviera? That seems to be a non traditional place too. It's an English tudor style place right on the water. I went to a wedding there and it was great!

Yep- and the Met too.

Here's Metropolitan:

Here's The Riviera. Can I just say- this website is old. I suggest going there to check it out.

Try botanical gardens (each county might have one) -- no ugly carpets there! I went to one at the bronx botantical gardens in late august and it was awesome.

Our hall is in NJ and is under 150 pp and we are getting married i n fall of 09. I fell in love with it because it reminded me of a lounge, and did not have the feel of a regular hall.

The website is theimperia.com
if you have any questions FM me

Re: Non traditional Wedding site??

we had our engagement party at this place called the alice austen house - it was outside and the place has a really nice view and you are right on the water....its in staten island though - and you have to do everything yourself - since it was only an eparty we kept it pretty casual - we did a chinese buffet, had a dj and got the cheapest tent we could find there are pics in my album if you are curious....BUT i have seen weddings there that were breathtaking - with really nice tents, lighting, a band, catered food, waiters - i mean really really nice....i dont know if you are interested in staten island but im sure there are other locations that are similair to that if you want to do something outdoorsy...IF i knew that our wedding day weather was guaranteed to be nice i would have totally had our wedding at this place....

we're having our reception at The Metropolitan - FM me if you have any questions about pricing or minimums. They've been great to work with so far and have a very different look than a lot of the places we visited.
