I'm curious about this. One of my friends was telling me she just went to a wedding that was on a Thursday night and at first I thought that was odd. I know that back in the day, it was the norm for upper-crust families to have the wedding on a Thursday - it was considered more formal.
Is anyone here not getting married on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

Re: Non-weekend Weddings
I know two people who had thursday night weddings, since they couldn't do friday night because they were Jewish. It is becoming more popular.

Maybe it's the only thing they can afford? I know my family is complaining about my sunday holiday weekend wedding! I cannot imagine what they would have said if it were on Thursday???!!!!!

Re: Non-weekend Weddings
Thursday night Jewish weddings are very popular because they can't do friday night, or really most saturday nights either, and it's a LOT less expensive., But I think fewer people would go. If it weren't because of a religios reason, I'd be pretty annoyed if a couple had a thursday wedding and if it was a big inconveneince I just wouldn't go, wheras on a weekend Ill travel and really go out of my way

I'm not, but one of my co-workers just got engaged and they set the date for a Thursday night in June. After looking at the prices I can surely see the difference and where it may be necessary to not have a weekend wedding.
Oh Princess Consuela, I'm so sorry!! Some people are just unbelievable!!! I wouldn't have blamed you for screaming at her.

Re: Non-weekend Weddings
FH and I saw a wedding party in a limo a few weeks ago and it was on a Thursday. So I guess they were having their wedding on a Thursday also!!
Plus when we booked our date, our BM was telling us that we might have gotten the Dome Room for our ceremony because one guy came in looking to book their wedding for the Thursday before us, but his family was in an uproar about it, so he might be switching it to Sunday instead and needed the Skylight room. I'm guessing he stuck with his Thursday plan, because we're using the Skylight room!!
I could only see having my wedding on a Thursday if that Friday was a holiday or a time everyone would have off, like Thanksgiving or if it was July 4th.

Re: Non-weekend Weddings
I heard about a few Tuesday weddings yesterday. There are on 52 Saturday nights per year so with a $72 billion wedding industry, couples have obviously been flexible with dates.
ETA: Couples should pick whatever day they want (and can afford).
I attended a Monday afternoon wedding (Memorial Day) and never even thought twice about it. In fact, I was reminded by the bride that it was on Monday (and about 1/3 the Saturday night price) when I told her about dates were considering.
If friends/family can't make it (work/inconvenient date/inconvenient time) they will just RSVP no.
People will complain about a Saturday night wedding just as much as they will about a Tuesday night wedding. You can't please everyone. There was even a recent post about a bride who had a request to change her date (don't recall the day of the week) because it conflicted with a graduation)
The only real issue for week night weddings is making the minimum. Otherwise, there are discounts to be had for off season as well as off nights in high season.
