He was Orry Maine? Right? And his best friend was George - I can't remember his last name.
And evil Ashton - oooh she was so wicked!

Gee thanks a lot missy!!!

I can laugh at my stupidity, however...

Just cannot remember the details re: who Patrick Swayze's love interest was, etc. I do remember Kirstie Alley on it , it was soooo melodramatic!

Re: North and South - the miniseries

My aunt was in love with Orey/Patrick ever since and I remember thinking he looked so coool on that horse...although when he rented a dance studio to, um, 'rehearse' at ABT's studios, and I had to find him a VCR and TV and he wasn't too nice about it...yeah, that's when my obsession faded...

Wasn't his love interest Madeline? I think she was a hooker, strumpet... whatever!
And Kirstie Alley was Virgilia, George's outspoken sister who thinks slavery should be abolished (and she later has an affair with a slave).

Were Genie Francis and Teri Hatcher in that, or am I thinking of something else? I remember that my mom let me stay up late to watch it.

YES that is it!! You are good with the North/South details... Yes Madeline was a strumpet .. and I do clearly recall Kirstie ALley being involved with a slave.

That miniseries was HUGE back then...
