Any suggestions for a local hotel that won't be super expensive for guests and has a BAR open late?
I've already checked out two hotels in Plainview - the Sheraton Four Points and Holiday Inn... the Four Points seems pretty nice

Re: North Ritz Club
Congrats!! You got the last Friday available for a summer wedding! We booked on 8/17 and they only had two dates available: 6/8/12 and 8/17/12. We originally picked 6/8 but some of my family who are in the wedding party would still in school so we switched. It's a good day! We fell in love with the NRC right away! :)

Re: North Ritz Club
my room block was at the hilton garden inn of plainview (i believe its right across from the sheraton). it was $129 a night and the bar is open til 2am on sunday mornings...but the bartender uses their discretion and will stay open later if he is making money (they stayed open past 3am for us)

Thank you and congrats to you too
The date actually works really well for us - the lack of options made choosing the date very easy!

Re: North Ritz Club
Can you explain the room block to me? You are reserving rooms at a discounted price and your guests can book if they chose? Or do you pay for the rooms? What if all the rooms in the block don't get booked?

Re: North Ritz Club
i'm using the melville marriott.
the 4 points has a shuttle you can add-on, which is a plus. i got my limo company to provide the shuttle for the same price.
I went with the marriott b/c i thought it was a much nicer hotel. for 5 bucks more a night. it's only like 2 min in a car further from NRC.

Re: North Ritz Club
Pinkglam - Yes, usually the hotel will offer you a discounted rate if you book a certain minimum of rooms (like 10 or 15) and may offer you extras like a room for you and the groom or a shuttle to your venue. Depending on the arrangement you make with them, you may have to pay for rooms that you reserve and do not use - but this is usually only if you've reserved a lot of rooms and didn't give them enough notice that you wouldn't need them all.
Thanks for the help everyone! I will check out the Melville one too - do you know about the bar situation there?

Congrats on your engagement and on booking NRC! I was just at a wedding there 2 weeks ago and everything was amazing! You have absolutely nothing to worry about, you picked a great venue!!
PS - Make sure you come over to the 2012 board and say hello!

Congrats! I got married there last year and did my room block at the 4 Points. We also used their shuttle, bar, and brunch. You can check out my review for more info
