north ritz club - am i crazy??

so we went to the NRC tonight and loved it, we will most likely be having the wedding in march or april and i have a weird problem.

the (really pretty) side garden is right next to jericho turnpike! you could see and hear the cars plus there are big Nissan and Mobile signs.

has anyone been there and noticed this?

its a huge problem for my FH. i mentioned that it may not be a big problem with a little more foliage and some noise from our party.

any thoughts or advice?

oooh i see. if it's very noisy that may have bothered me too BUT - it's only the cocktail hour....as soon as it's over ur guests will enter into ur reception and it wont even be a thought...so if you're absolutely IN LOVE with the place, i wouldn't let it bother u TOO much... also, there's no harm in looking at other places just to be sure...that way u'll have no regrets. good luck!

i'm getting married there, you can see jericho trpk..kinda. the noise didnt bother us, we barely heard it actually. the place itself is gorgeous..besides the food and tables are inside and you have the option of using the outside, so chances are all your guests wont have to hear/see anything else.

i've heard nothing but raves about the place, i have family friends who've attended weddings/parties there and i have not heard one complaint about the main road/noise.
talk it over with FH and see what he thinks. thats just a small part of your big day!

We spent alot of time talking and walking around outside and never really heard the noise because of the privacy fence they have up but that's just me and with the CH we will have music playing outside so I dont think people will be fixated on jericho tpke. Go with what your comfortable with.

I LOVED NRC too, but FH and his mom both said the same thing as your FH. JT ended up being our favorite anyway, still right off Jericho Turnpike but I guess without an accessable outdoor area it just stops being a problem...

Personally, I didn't notice it at NRC, I thought the place was fantastic, but they did notice it...

I'm having my wedding there too!
The noise didn't bother us one bit. Most RH are right off of a busy road and I've never heard the noise being an issue. IMO this shouldn't be your deciding factor on choosing a RH - especially with a place like the NRC. The place is beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is delish!

Good Luck!

Yeah I have also heard nothing but nice things and I know that people have their cocktail hour outside and I haven't hear any complaints.
Of course, you and FH both have to be comfortable.

You don't really notice it, and no one pays attention to it.
Music, people talking, all mask whatever noise may come from Jericho. The high walls,t he fountain, and all the foliage do a good job of masking the sounds.
March - April may be to chilly to have the CH outside, you have to take that into consideration.
The weather is always iffy in those months, same as in my month October.

We did some of our pics outside and unless you have a lousy photog, they won't get the signs in.
The weeping willow tree makes for lovely pictures.

We loved NRC, some of our guests are still talking about what a wonderful wedding it was, and how elegant the place is and that there is only one event at a time. Raves about the food is what we heard for a long time after that.

I never noticed any signs or noise from JT, but that's just me. We will have our band playing during the CH so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Most of the time is spent inside anyway

We almost booked NRC, this was never an issue for us. You have to figure.....more foliage....people outside talking, music being played.....no one is going to even notice.

As far as a nissan sign....your photographer should be able to care of those things...I'm sure he won't position you with the nissan sign hanging over your head

NRC is a beautiful, beautiful place.....

It's just for an hour....the rest of the time people will be inside

I really think it would be too cold in March or April to be outside for the cocktail hour. I wouldn't wanna be out there today! It's cold! NRC has a beautiful cocktail hour room.

i agree with most of the other posters--it's only an hour, and most people are so busy eating and socializing that they don't really notice those signs. It WAS a concern for me too when I was looking at the place, but eventually I found a place that I just liked more. For being RIGHT on Jericho Tpk, I do think that they have one of the nicer set ups, in terms of their grounds. If the rest of the hall wins you over then just remember--it's only an hour.

BTW--the wedding I attended there was FABULOUS and since I'm not a smoker, I stayed inside, closer to the food during the cocktail hour!

I had my wedding at the North Ritz Club this past August and never noticed a thing! None of my guests mentioned it at all either. I had my cocktail hour outside and it was wonderful! I noticed no noise at all.
And the North Ritz Club is so great! They do a great job on everything and I was so satisfied! All my guests loved it too! People are still talking about how great it was!
NR is so helpful and work so well with you. They do everything you ask them to. They are on top of everything. The service from the whole staff is phenomenal! The MD and BA were spectacular and on top of everything.
I had absolutely no worries and everything went so smoothly.
And like I said I noticed no noise or distractions from outside the NR. I say you book it right away!!

I was in a bridal party that had their wedding their. We did all our phots by the fountain and the garden. We didnt seem to notice it too much...plus not everyone was outside and its only for 45 min! So if you love it book it! I thought they did a great job there, its beautiful

I think it will be too cold for your cocktail hour outside in March and even April. Remember last year, it didn't even warm up until June....

Re: north ritz club - am i crazy??

i went to a wedding last year where the reception hall was on a main road....there was a wendys sign and an IHOP sign in ALL of their photos....I was totally turned off by this.....but since you noticed it in advanced you can just make sure your photographer edits it out. I don't see it as a problem if you really like the RH.
