North ritz club brides

Original post by Sweetie2004

I'm not thrilled with the wedding cakes they provide (no offense to anyone)

I was thinking of buying my own and seeing if they would throw in something else instead.

Do you think they'll go for it?
What should I ask for?
How much are cakes and where should I look?

Anyone else thinking about this?

Sorry I am not an NRC bride, but just wanted to say my hall provides the cake as well.. and the pictures they showed me.. well I wasnt impressed.. when I went last week to talk to them they told me I can pick any filling I want and bring them a picture of the outside I like (within reason.. no $1,000 cake) and they will make it exactly for me.
Maybe your hall will do the same if you ask..
either way they have to make the cake.. whats the difference to them if its the way you like it? - unless its just WAY too expensive

Im not a NRC bride, but I just wanted to warn you fellow brides. Before going to an outside baker ask your banquet manager if there is a 'cake cutting fee'. Usually when you go with an outside baker there is such a fee, but most places waive it. But to be on the safe side, you should ask anyway!! As soontobemrsz explained above, I also brought in a pic and asked them if they would be able to do this. Some were honest and said their baker would not be able to do that. Some said it would be an additional fee. My cake is the mad hatter and since it's made with rolled fondant, it takes longer to decorate. Others said they would charge extra because it would have to be made from an outside baker that they use. Thought this would help

Re: North ritz club brides

I had a full vienesse at my wedding (in 10/02) at NRC and people we overwhelmed/ impressed with how great it was. I got tons of positive feedback over it. More than I thought I would...I really can't remember about the display but I can tell you there was tons of different items - the whole cocktail hour room was filled up. Everyone enjoyed it. All I remember was grabbing a min-cannoli and some of those Baileys shots in chocolate cups.

(My wedding cake was ugly though but I hear they have improved. Also, when it came time to pick my cake I didn't give any direction or bring any pictures because I didn't really care too much (even though I had tons of pictures in my files printed out). In retrospect, I wish I cared only because I hate my cake cutting pictures - no other reason than that...but I heard it was delicious.)

This seems to be an area of concern for a lot of NRC brides, I think there are a lot of upcoming brides, but not enough past brides to give a review. Lets just all keep each other posted about the cakes and information about replacing them with outside bakeries, maybe if enough of us speak with NRC about this they will pay special attention to the design of the cake or make even change the baker.
