So if you know anyone who is looking to book a wedding or even a holiday party, it's a really beautiful place, and on the off chance that they rebook it, we might get some of our depost back.
Thanks!

Re: North Ritz Club is Available for 12/16/06
Thanks for the concern!
We're still getting married, we've just made the very difficult decision that now is not the right time to do that. That's a big part of why I haven't been on LIW much. It's a little hard for me to read all of the wedding posts.
Some of you know it's been a huge up and down back and forth about postponing for financial reasons, but it's just there's been too much going and too much that needs to be worked out for now.
My FH and I are still very much in love, so no worries... but it is REALLY hard. You might see a really sad thread from me on Dec 16...but you also might see a thread asking what you think of a Sunday Night of Memorial Day wekeend wedding in 2008. So, we're going forward. I'm sad and overwhelmed, but I'm ok.
Thanks SO much for the support..and if you know someone looking to book a wedding on short notice or a christmas party, spread the word. I would love to be able to apply that $$ to a new date in a couple of years!
ETA: Will I now officially have the longest engagement in LIW history?

That law about giving more than 6 months notice, they can only keep $100 of your deposit - is that only in Suffolk County? Does anyone know? That could help you a lot!!
Best wishes!

that law only applies to places in suffolk county...nassau county doesn't have a law like that

I know. If my place were in suffolk I'd be home free. I wish they would be a little nicer since I do want to book with them when I' ready to rebook..but apparently not.

they should def. put your deposit towards your future booking---if they don't i would pick a new place unless your heart is totally set on them....... they have plenty of time to rebook that date (maybe w/a sweet 16, bar mitzvah, holiday party, or surprise party etc.)......if they were professional, they would give u that option.....it's not like you're not going to use them and you are going to give them more $ than what they have now........good luck and i hope they will help u out............ oh and get it in writing if they say that they'll give u your money towards '08

They absolutely will not do this until the original date is booked. it's not pocket change either, they require a lot up front, it amounted to more than 20% of what the bill would have been before tax and gratuity. I'm so annoyed, because I didn't even ask for the $$ back, I asked to apply it to a new date. And they have a thing in the contract about how it's subject to food tasting, and I didn't do it right away because everyone said do it closer to when you're going to make the menu, but now they're saying 'no, it's too late to do that' and blah blah. I'm SO annoyed. They siad they'd 'work with me' on my new date, but who knows what that means. They were trying to convince me to kleep my original date and scale ti down.
And it wasn't like ona w him we decided to postpone, we had serious reasons beyond our control which we explained to them, and no dice. We made an appointmetn for the when manager was there, and then he woudln;t come up and speak with us. And I really loved the place
