Northport Pictures?

Northport Pictures?

We are getting married at the Thatched Cottage and are thinking about getting pictures taken at one of the beaches in Northport as well as some taken in the Village.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good idea, or give some suggestions for locations around the Thatched Cottage.

FYI... the date is Saturday, 7/2 so beaches, etc. may be crowded.

Thanks.

i went to check out the northport harbor, and i have to tell you i wasnt impressed....the day we went it smelled really bad.....it could have just been that day tho....i would def check out any place you decide on before you make a final decision! Good luck (and please let me know if you find a place...my reception is in East Northport!)

The smell was most likely due to the time of day that you went. Anyplace in this area that is experiencing low tide will smell. Best thing to do is check when low tide will be forecasted on the day of your wedding.

I've seen other bride's pics from Northport village (I live in East Northport) and I thought they were beautiful.

I work in Northport overlooking the water and almost every Friday in the summer and spring months we get to look at all the pretty wedding parties that come down to take pictures. They start in the gazebo and take pictures throughout the park. I think the harbor is a fabulous idea

Take 25A to main street (the street where Pumpernickles rest. is) go all the way down till you hit the water. The park is on the right. Make sure you wave at the grey building on the corner (that's where I work!!!!!!!!!)

I think Northport Village will be a beautiful place for you to take your pics! I think if it is crowded people will be considerate for a bride and groom.

I also think Northport village is your best bet. It's so close, and so beautiful.

I took these pics in October:

I think it's a great place to take pics!

why would you go down to the village if the thatched cottage is so pretty.

they have a gazebo there - and the deck along the water where they have the coctail hour is so pretty. IMO you wouldn't need to leave

Thank goodness pictures aren't scratch and sniff!

the gazebo on the dock in NPT is wonderful. as is the park. The smell is due to low tide. it's not there all the time.

Even closer to the TC is the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport. The gardens and courtyard are amazing to take pictures and it overlooks NPT harbor but no need to step on the grass of sand. You can take pictures from the terrace in the back by the reflection pool. It's absolutely stunning.

Re: Northport Pictures?

Thanks for all the help.
We took a ride down there, as well as some north shore beaches, on Friday and we liked it. It had everything we needed... Water, boats, gazebo, garden, etc... I like the low tide smell I grew up on the water so I am used to it.

As for why we don't do all our pics at the Cottage... we can only get there 1 hour before the ceremony starts (we are having the ceremony there and pics are beforehand) and that won't be enough time. We will be having some pics there, but not all.

Thanks again.

I'm getting married at Thatched too but we're taking pics at Vanderbilt Museum because we want to be covered just in case of rain. They do in door and outdoor pics

I'm glad you were pleased with your search. I was about to say, each year Northport High School has a pre-prom party down there so that all the prom goers can get pictures taken with the beautiful scenery. I have some beautiful shots from my times there!

my sister got married at St Phillips and had bagpipers lead the guests to Skippers which they rented out for an hour while the bridal party took pics at the gazebo. My sistyer's pics were beautiful! You can't go worng.

Just saw this post - we had pics taken in downtown Npt and at the docks. We also got married at TC, and the hour before wasn't enough time (especially since it was the fall and the reception wasn't until 6:30 - it was too dark to take pics there).

Here are some of my favorites from Npt.
