Norwegian Cruise Line

Any one been and anything good or bad?
We are thinking of going for our honeymoon to Hawaii on NCL.

Went on a New England cruise on NCL and it was god aweful. I have been on several cruises and like it but I would never cruise with NCL again.

I don't know how and if Hawaii is different but you may try to do a search on www.epinions.com for your ship. Lots of people write about their experiences there.

I looked on the site and no one has placed a review on the ship I would be going on. Sonicstef what was bad about it?

The biggest problem was the food. The other cruises I have been on all have had great food in their main dining rooms. The NCL food was literally inedible every night. I actually lost weight on that ship - and that never happens on a cruise.

The entertainment is terribly cheesy too. All cruises have some level of cheesiness in their entertainment but this was the worst by far.

Other than that - the ship was old and poorly maintained.

I went on NCL in January of this year. It was my first cruise so I had nothing to compare it with,however I had a really good time. The food was ok in my opinion. What may put some people off about this cruiseline was that it was very casual. They have what is called free- style crusing. There is no formal seating during dinner and you pretty much do whatever you want.
I then went on Royal Carribean this summer and the food was better.

I don't know if this helps,but it all boils down to what your expectations are of a cruise. Also a cruiseline has different ships and some may be better than others.

The ship we would be going on is the Norwegian Star which was just released in 2001. So it wouldn't be old or horrible maintenance. I actually like the freestyle dining. I have gotten 2 nays and 4 yeas on the food. I will have to see I guess. It still isn't definite whether this is the route we are going to head for the honeymoon. I was on an NCL line this past summer.... YUCK! Food was G-d awful spoiled half the time, I also lost weight on the cruise, whenever we reached land I managed to find a bagel store, or a decent place to eat, I would not feed the food to my 2 cats- my video is pretty amusing- my family calls it Reality TV!air conditoner was lousy, toilet seat was broken, HORRIBlE HORRIBLE HORRIBlE. I agree with SonicStef!HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

My husband and I just went on the Norweigan Star you are interested in ....and it was okay. The food is definately better on other cruise lines but it wasn't inedible. The main problem is that you don't see that much of Hawaii because you have to go to an island called Fanning Island which is all the way on the equator..and it takes three of your seven days. We also had bad weather (which was reported as not typical by the staff) so it made it a long three days. If you can I would try and stay on one or two islands for the week..10 hours at the most on one island was not enough..if you can add 2-3 days in Oahu or Maui or Kaui at the end so you can see more..we did and it was definately worth it

P.S. The boat is brand new and it was beautiful and offers alot of activities, so keep that in mind too.

I went on The Sky in Feb. It was okay. I agree that the food was not as good as on other ships. I have been on Holland, Carnival, Norwegian, and RCL. Out of all of those I would check out RCL. It was by far the nicest experience that I have had on a ship. Hope that helps and good luck deciding.

Not Jenny: AAHH Someone who has had first hand experience on that ship and cruise. What did you do on all the other islands? We do plan on getting to Honolulu a couple of days before the cruise leaves or two days after it comes back. Although I am thinking probably Kauai. I can't make up my mind.
We have decided on going with the cruise instead of going anywhere else. This is the only time we will be able to visit Hawaii for a long time so this works for us.
