Not a happy Post, but help me if you've ever felt like this..

As everyone knows, we've been having money issues.. Nothing major, BUT it's still depressing to know that you have debt. I am so excited about the wedding, but lately, i've been thinking.. it's only 1 day, and $28k for one day seems like WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!! We own our house here in GA, but I want to move to NY and that could've been a down payment on the house in NY.. Does or has anyone ever felt like this??? Will it pass?? It's like, i want all these things, but now, i'm afraid to spend anymore money.. EVERYTHING IS SO FREAKIN EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! and I don't think we can have a videographer, I don't want a wedding, with no video!!!!!!! I guess, this too shall pass..

It is a lot of money, but this is one day that i will remember and cherish FOREVER.. I just NEED A VIDEO.. they are so beautiful.. hey what's another $2,000 and I would've never found about LIW..

I feel the same way. I have been trying to keep my wedding in a good budget that we can actually save for. I don't want to have to be paying off wedding debt after. I'm trying to keep my wedding budget to $15-$17,000, and I'm lucky that my parents are going to give us a little less than half of that. I skipped out on the videographer because I don't think we really need it, and I think photos are good enough. I cut my bridal party down to MOH and BM to save on bridal party gifts, flowers and limo and to save me the stress. I cut down on my reception add-ons because I just realized I do not want to spend so much money for one day. I realized shrimp is not worth so much money per person. And I'm hoping with money gifts we get for wedding that that can go for house. So just think at least you will make some money back.

Don't feel so bad about spending $28K on wedding. If you're looking for houses where I am in NY, you'll need more than that for downpayment sadly. The prices of houses here are at the highest now, but I'm hoping next year they will go down.

very true

i feel as if this is a turning point in our lives. i'm a tad higher on bugdet and it's very depressign that we are spending this much. We could of done a 10k-15k job but we wanted it all. And for once in your life when someone said 'No, you can't do this' this wedding day is the one day you can do it all!
Even 30k down on a house is not alot these days. We are not considering buying a house in NY now w/ current salariers cause it just isn't worth it and we can't afford it. We probally to to FL where we can have double the house for a reg house price here.

Get veido!!! After seeing people ceremonies and weddings, it's nice to see/hear back on the day. Pictures do tell great stories but reliving it in moving pictures and sounds, i can't describe it

Remember that houses in FL are cheaper because the salaries are lower, so it all balances out.

Hey Crystal-

Totally know how you feel. We're spending as little as possible. You don't have to spend 2k on a video though. Try the people on my budget vendor list - all are under 1k, one is only $300 for raw footage.

I wish I liked GA.. I make exactly what I did in New york, and our house is a third of what one this size would be in NY.. UGGH.. I just miss my family, and friends, too much.. to live here forever.. Move to GA, the salary rate is great.. and they have beautiful homes for $90,000 (unfortunately ours was more)

UGH...I understand. Not so much that i could use the money for a DP..But OMG it is a lot of money. I am sooo freaked about how much higher this wedding is costing us. When it is all said and done i thik we are up at the 40 range and it is sicking to think about the bills that keep coming AND COMING. That is what is freaking me out. DOES ANYONE FEEL LIKE THIS???

I am sooo much looking foward to this day though and i am not regreting using this money towards a DP.

Most will travel.

I was trying to keep mine under $10k - yeah right! I was upset that we're spending as much as we are!

I just don't want to go into debt over this. But I do want to feed people and show them a nice time. It's hard.

I think what's important is just having a great time that day and focusing on spending the rest of your life with someone. You can't let little details get you down, and I'm sure going to try not to get upset if something goes wrong with something that day. I'm sure the best weddings are weddings where things have gone wrong.

i think its important to keep it in perspective..

its just one day, but its a very important day.. and a day that will be remembered by you for a long time...

photo and video are what you will have to last you through that time, so its important to have them... if the video is too expensive, then at least have some family member video tape the day... or have a cheaper company tape it, and you could always have it edited at a later time..

It is hard because it's only one day but we all know as a little girl we dreamed of our wedding day and wanted something NICE!!! So cheer up.
