Julia Styles to star in Happy Version of The Bell Jar. I am kind of pizzed off by this cause The Bell Jar is one of my ultimate favorite books and it is just wrong:
1) Julia Styles was in freakin The Prince & Me AND Save The Last Dance. SHe should SOOO not be the main character in this movie - she should not even be referenced in the same title as this movie. They need someone who can do tortured - maybe Zooey Deschanel
2) Happy????

I have never read the Bell Jar, however, I plan to on my flight to Milano.
And despite having never read it, I know that happy + Julia Stiles for this story = majorly wrong.

I had heard a while back that she was interested in doing the movie version of the book--but a 'happy' version????
Isn't this supposed to be a tortured character? Why Julia Stiles? How about a good indy-movie actor?

I am not a big Chloe Sevigny fan either! She somehow skeeves me out.
I can see Christina Ricci doing something like that. She was terrific in Prozac Nation.

don't hate Julia Stiles. I liked her in 10 Things I Hate About You and Hamlet. I don't think she is an awful actress... she has had some crappy movies - but then again who hasn't had their share of embarrassments? I mean - I love Johnny Depp but he was in 21 Jump Street.
