Not giving out Favors?
Is anyone else not giving out favors? We weren't going to do it.... But now, hearing all of you. My mother and FIL's said we don't need to.... Is anyone else?

Re: Not giving out Favors?
We aren’t giving out traditional favors, we are giving out little bags of old fashioned candy- mary jane’s, bit-0-honey, etc.

Re: Not giving out Favors?
Yes, I will. You are not obligated to, but it is a nice gesture to give your guests a momento of your day.

Re: Not giving out Favors?
You can give out little candies. It doesn't have to be much. Years ago they used to give out Jordan almonds wrapped in tulle. Now its expanded into this big business of fancy bottle openers, little wine bottles, picture frames, etc. You can do whatever you want.

Re: Not giving out Favors?
I will be giving little organza bags with hershey kisses and making a donation in FHs name. I worked at a temple for MANY years and I don't ever remember them giving out a favor (except sometimes the sunday times b/c they ran very late) Now granted this was 9 years ago but i think you should do what you want. Most favors end up unused anyway...thats why I like the donation.I have a small picture frame that was given out (with table # in it) and it is still sitting on my dresser with the table # in it...it is too small for any pictures that I have

Re: Not giving out Favors?
I do not think it is necessary at all. I have been recently to many formal weddings that do not give out favors. If you are trying to cut costs, I wouldn't give them out.

Re: Not giving out Favors?
Favors are not a necessity. I would not go over my budget for them. If the wedding is really nice favors will not be missed. What are you using for placecards? They have alot of place cards that can be favors as well.

We're not giving anything, save for perhaps a cd favor if FH will make it... But nothing planned now.

Re: Not giving out Favors?
Cheap, Curly???!!! That is so harsh!! I prefer the term 'financially cautious'.!!!
This wedding is seriously costing me more than what I am worth!! I am going to have to turn tricks soon to come up with the money! As for friends and family, they are seeing ME walk down the aisle FINALLY and eating free on me, in a down economy I might add... That should be a gift enough to my Jewish family that thinks 18 is an appropriate age to get married!!! Have you seen the movie, Big Fat Greek Wedding. That is like my family! My getting married is a gift enough to those who didn't think they would live long enough to see the day!!!
LOL!!!

Re: Not giving out Favors?
We didn't give out favors either... but we did have picture frames as place cards, which can serve as a favor. We got them for under $1 each!
