Not going on Honeymoon right away?

Is anyone delaying their honeymoon? Due to money constraints? Work issues?

Just curious. I don't think FH and I will be able to go until September (wedding in June). We want to assess our finances after the wedding is over, use money we receive as gifts to help pay for it, and the other reason, is we are getting married the week before the fiscal year ends for the non-profit I work for...it's just an insane time for me at work...

Would love to hear what other brides are doing.

We were originally booked for May 1 through May 8, but then two things happened:
1) lack of money (even though it turns out we had it b/c of the HM registry) and...
2) FI works in baseball so that's the beginning of the season, and while he could get the time off, his head wouldn't really be there...so....

we rescheduled it for November 27....best decision we've made...

we're still going to take a mini-getaway together for a few days after the wedding...perhaps Vegas or Montreal...

I love the idea of stretching everything out -- more to look forward to!

I think we are going to wait a few weeks.

We are planning a trip to Italy and August is prime vacation time there. So it will be much more expensive (air especially), and tourist filled than going in the 3rd week or so in September.

It will also be better on our bank account (obviously).

We actually just discussed this concept this past week, and I feel a sense of relief since then. We haven't discussed the idea of doing a mini-getaway to 'hold us over' but I would like to.

That's an awesome to think about it. Because, I have to admit, I am a little bummed we aren't going right away. It's like...ugh, back to work (even though I am taking that Monday off)! yuck.

I should just think I have something to look forward to in September....the fun weddings things won't be over so fast.

We are thinking Italy in September tooo! crazy!

We just found out that we have to postpone. FH is applying for his green card after the wedding and can't leave the country until he gets some paperwork back. So instead of going to Barcelona right after the wedding we're going to go once his paperwork comes through and I have time off from work (hopefully September, but we'll see). In the meantime we're going to try to go to San Francisco for Memorial Day weekend (2 weeks after our wedding). Postponed honeymoon = 2 honeymoons for us!

We are doing Italy in July. Our trip runs into August but...

PS: we are doing a mini-moon, which is a great option.

We are heading to Nantucket for a couple of nights - middle of the week - just to get away.

cool deal! any thoughts on what cities you will visit? I am having such a hard time choosing an itinerary. I have gotten some great advice though. It's very difficult for me though, this trip planning. The wedding is a cake walk, and the honeymoon makes me . I keep putting it off.

Hey date twin!!! We are also postponing the honeymoon until August becasue FH is taking the bar exam in July.

we are doing a tour through ABC tours.

It is a private tour though -- no buses, no rushing, etc.

Basically you have a private driver who picks you up and tows you around.

We are going to Positano for 4 nights and Rome for 3 night. The trip ends there but we are going to take a train to Cinque Terre - It is only 50 bucks a person to extend.

Oh my word, seriously I haven't even started to think about it! It totally scares me. Like you said...wedding, cake walk. HM....walk the plank maybe?

Anyway, I would love to get to Capri, Rome, and Florence. Beyond that? Not sure yet...

Same here, FH and I are going the week after our wedding to save alittle more money. I will go back to work three days after the wedding (Ugh).

We're not doing a full honeymoon right away either due to work. My office couldn't let me leave for over a week, so I'm leaving the Sunday after the wedding and FH and I will drive up to Newport, RI for some R&R and come back Tuesday to go to work on Wednesday.

We'll take our big honeymoon in March of next year to the Bahamas!

We're going to be going about 2 weeks after the wedding.
