Not going to meet our minimum....

Out of 240 people, we aren't going to meet our minimum of 175. We are scraping to get 150, including our vendors. This *****!!!! I feel insulted and sad about some of the NO's, people I expected to be there. I guess when it comes to this, you can't have any expectations.

I absolutely know how you feel. More than anything it hurts. We have such a small minimum (100) that I think we will make it, but less than half of my that was invited is actually attending. Try to get some add ons to the cocktail hour, or a chocolate fountain. You could even invite some LIW girls.

We didn't have a 'B' list. We just invited everyone we would want to be there indefinetely. Of course there are other people we could invite, but our response day is today and I would feel embarrassed to ask anyone at this point.

I wouldn't be embarassed! Lots of people have been through the same thing and if the people you still want to ask are insulted, then I for one wouldn't want them there in the first place!

Or just replace the RSVP card (reprint on matching paper and tuck behind all the other enclosures) with a new RSVP date.

Go to one of the stationary stores and find a matching sheet and run them through the printer... no one will ever know... unless you printed the RSVP date on the main invite... then it's not so good.

I had the same experience. We invited about 235 people (many from my mother's side and she swore they would come) I think our final count was 147 plus 4 vendors.

There isn't really much you can do now. I am sure you'll have a wonderful wedding.

I'm sorry. I know exactly how you're feeling! Negotiate ASAP with your hall. When we didn't meet our minimum we talked with our hall and came out very happy.

I totally know how you feel. We are not making our minimum either. Don't feel embarassed to ask anyone else - I asked people with phone calls and emails and no one was insulted at all - in fact many of them tsaid they would love to come. I just told them that with all the family and people we 'had' to invite I unfortunately couldnt invite them originally, even though I wanted to (which is true!!) but now that we had recieved many no's, I was so happy that I could invite them.

I'm really afraid this is going to happen to us and if it does I will totally fell hurt and upset if people I expected to come dont. My plan is to order or make some simple and basic invitations and send them out quickly.

I am sorry to hear that you might not meet your minimum. I would just ask anyone else...coworkers, friends of friends...i don't see it as an insult. People are really understanding about this type of stuff.

I'm sorry. You're right, some of the 'no's' do hurt. Try to invite more people or negotiate with your hall to get some extras for your money.

we just made it at 180, did you count your vendors. they apply as well.

do not be embarssed to ask other guests now. We asked peope with only a few weeks left. They were so happy to go to our wedding and it wasn't weird at all!

I think it's OK to ask more people now. I would ask them in person and just say, initially we were constrained by numbers, but now that we have responses, it turns out we have the room so we would love to have you there. FH asked a few extra people from work and it was totally fine. I think most people understand the restraints you're working under when you put together a guest list and know that you may not be able to invite everyone you'd like to from the outset.
