~ Not happy with one of my MOHS

~ I had order my girls dresses from NJ and b/c of hurricane sandy i was a little bit scared with the when they were going to come in ...b/c it got hit every badly ..well i sent a mass text to all of them and in the text i said ...so Ummm the BMs dresses are not going to be hear until mid-jan ..stupid sandy....

I was just so upset and then one of them responded by saying ( MOH) there are more things that r important then your dress and i cant believe u...first of all she had no idea what i want through from the storm and that really sent me over the edge and i was trying to make light of what happened >> and then she said to me well for my wedding my dress came in 2 months whats the big deal...then i said well u didnt order them from NJ did u ....after that there was no point and with all the good things are r happening ( im now in full contract for a house) i cant even be happy b/c of what she said...but i just dont understand

It's tough because everyone is on edge with this one. The devistation is just so widespread. I'm sure you weren't trying to make light of the storm situation, rather trying to make light of the entire situation concerning the dresses. With text and email there is no tone of voice, so sarcasm and inuendo are lost. I would let a little time pass, for wounds to heal, and I would try to have an open, honest conversation when calmer heads prevail. Good Luck

No offense, she is right. I yelled at David's bridal for telling me my bm need to get their dresses. People lost everything and sadly, it is more important than our weddings right now. It sucks bc we picked out our wedding bands but I feel like its wrong to be happy about out when people lost so much. Hopefully soon we can be happy again.

I agree with this.

Personally I have taken a break from wedding planning. Majority of my wedding party has been affected from the hurricane. My heart is not in it and the devastation I have seen in my home town breaks my heart. Wedding deadlines have been pushed back and when the time is right we will go full steam ahead.

I know its a tough time trust me ...i know people who are homeless and i was willing to take them in ...but of course my friend does not know that ..but i was trying to make light of the situation but that didnt work ...but i dont understand them at all...and now i feel that if i talk to them about anything they will say the same thing so im not saying anything at all to them ...my bridal shower is coming up and we have to start planning it so it looks like i will NOT be talking to them about it ..screw it ...im just SICK to my stomach

If the friend is displaced or homeless or with out power or has a lot of home damaged or was hurt during the storm, etc, then i can agree with this. If not then I have to say that it IS important to try to get a little bit normalcy back into our lives (while at the same time, opening our homes and lending out help to those who were not as fortunate as some of us during this disaster).

Maybe she was upset over something else relating to this and taking it out on talking about the dresses. Talking about it through text does also lose something that you can pick up with in verbal or face to face conversations. Things can seem a lot more insensitive through a text, so maybe it would have been a better topic to discuss over the phone or in person, after checking on the person to make sure they are holding up OK first!

Also, David's Bridal should not be requiring anyone to pick up dresses immediately. Most businesses are extending dates and making exceptions, there's no reason why these stores shouldn't be doing the same.

Maybe you can call and just explain to her that you didn't mean anything by it. I agree, people are on edge. Maybe just try to smooth things over so you don't have to worry about it and it doesn't upset you.

I agree with this! Everyone I know has been affected by the hurricane and I do agree that getting back to a little bit of normalcy in this time is good. I don't think it makes you insensitive to everyone's situation. I also agree that maybe you should call her and say you didn't mean anything by it. Maybe she was just having a bad day and took it the wrong way.

I would call her but she never picks up the phone so thats a bad idea and im not leaving her a message so whatever is going on with her i will let her be for now and with planning for my bridal shower and bach party i will let my friends handle it and my mom ...im out of it so i wont piss anyone off ...

plus the one thing its so hard to talk to her b/c she will end up yelling at me ...she has a VERY BAD temper ( that does not help)

I would just say 'I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to minimize the damage that the hurricane did to some people, I was just trying to keep it lighthearted'.
I agree with the other girls that people are on edge because I have been too! I was getting cranky that majority of my friends had the week off to get their stuff straightened out and I had to wake up early to drive to work in the cold house so I can see how people are edgy. It's not right but it's what happens. I say just tell her you didn't mean that and there is no pressure to be doing wedding stuff right now in the middle of all this.

You know, it's a tough situation because you have to strike the right balance. On the one hand you have to be sensitive to the situation, but on the other hand life goes on and we have to do what we can to move forward and resume some semblance of normalcy.

I think you should let it be for now. I agree with ladies in that everyone is still on edge. Eventually (and you'll know the right time), just explain your side to your friend. If she's a friend, she'll listen and not blow up on you. Having a temper isn't an excuse for acting like a jerk. You shouldn't be afraid to have this conversation with your friend. If you are, then maybe it's time to re-evaluate your relationship IMHO.

I'm sort of in the same boat. My MOH lost her home so I'm also trying to strike the right balance between being there for her and wedding planning. Fortunately she's been very understanding. If my MOH and BFF can be supporting and she lost her home, your MOH can do the same.

in the meantime.

Sorry about that sweetie! It could be that she was just in a mood but it seems a little unnecessary for he to kinda bite your head off.

I think you should just talk to her face to face and talk about it...there is a chance one or both misinterpreted text...its easy to do that when you cant hear or see the person's voice tone or facial expressions....

Good luck and I hope everything IS okay after this storm that passed!
