Not making minimum

Not making minimum

I am SOOOOO upset. We sent out 100 invites which was about 180 people thinking we would have no prob making minimum. Well, we must have picked a bad date cause now we aren't even making our minimum. What happens when you don't make minimum? I am going to call my Banquet manager crying today. We NEVER anticipated this.

Hopefully they will be able to work with you by throwing stuff in since you are paying it anyway.

Good Luck!

How short are you going to be?

At this point we will be short by approximately 10 people. The remainding people t RSVP are most likely singles or no's.

Sorry

but don't get upset yet - did you count you and FH? your vendors? have you thought about people you originally wanted to invite but didn't? now you can ask them.

And ask your hall to work with you on extras if necessary

icequeen- what room are you in? I'm just worried about the room looking so empty.

Re: Not making minimum

How do I ask people now and send invites with the RSVP date that passed?

If we don't make our minimum, our BM told us no problem. We pay for the minimum, but can use the balance of the $$ to upgrade other areas. The money is not lost, just redirected. Hope that works out with your hall.

We had the same problem too and sent out B-list invites (we were way under). Now were are about 15 short. That is a good idea talking to the BM and making the money up in other places. We'll have to try that.

This may be a bit tacky, but just start inviting people that you're not that close with. Tell them that you're not interested in a gift and not to worry about it but you don't want to pay for empty seats. Just come down to enjoy the food and good times!! I mean neighbors, co-workers, etc. See if any of your single guests could bring a date/friend.

Meeting our minimum is my biggest fear. I have to come up with people to invite just to accomodate for the No's.

I'm so sorry

Maybe they’ll agree to reduce your minimum… but I don’t think they will, because it’s part of the contract. I hope you get a lot of folks who change their minds.

I guess one reason for so many no’s is b/c it’s the summer and people like to take vacations.

Good luck!

Maybe they can throw in some extras for you??
Also now you wont have to pay extra for your vendor meals b/c it will be included to make up your min.

hmm8191- At this point I have no problem setting up a table for LIW brides who are interested.

Re: Not making minimum

So sorry to hear that, we have just been placed in the same situation with people not being able to come at the last minute (medical stuff, kid stuff, etc).... we are JUST under so at this point I am just forgetting about it. Good ideas posted here though!

we didnt make it either. My hall threw in extra things. We had a full Vienease hour and you know what that day I was so happy to have the extra stuff rather than the people!

Re: Not making minimum

I agree you should make sure the hall counts all vendors and such in the mnimum. Maybe they could throw something in for you

Re: Not making minimum

how many people did you guarantee? My banquet manager told me that anyone that would be half price would count toward the min if we didn't meet it & anythign beyond that we would still have to pay for. Did you invite everyone with a guest--that may be a way to up your list. Just some thoughts
