Is anyone else NOT planning to see their FH or FW before the ceremony?? I'm trying to decide what to do about taking pictures. Our ceremony is at the RH and the cocktail hour is immediately following, so no time to take pics except at cocktail hour. Was thinking of getting the family pictures done with before the ceremony... for both sides.....so that all we will have to worry about is the bride/groom pictures during the wedding.
Grrrrrrr.....any suggestions?? Thanks

our ceremony is at 6:30 at the RH with cocktail hour to immediately follow, we're doing a 'reveal' at one of our picture locations at around 3pm and then getting all of our pictures out of the way!

Re: Not seeing groom before the ceremony......
Thats soooo funny, i just posted this on the 2013 board: Now this is a very personal topic, and might not be for everyone....just putting an option out there for people who may want to enjoy their CH.
With that said...I always thought that i DID NOT want to see my FH until the ceremony. But, we just went to meet with our first photo/video (Fade to Black) and he made a very good point, that with a bridal party of 21....its going to be VERY hard to squeeze pictures in during the CH. Now i WANT to be at my CH, even if its just for 10-20 min. Then again, i don't want to rush my pictures! His suggestion, a 'First View'...which is basically, before the ceremony, FH's back is turned and i tap him on the shoulder and he turns around and see's me for the first time. Of course this can be changed up how ever, but its such a more personal/intimate way for FH to see me all dressed up. Of course he's going to see me walk down the ailse with the blusher and all that....but i saw video of this First View and it brought tears to my eyes! My mom, who was DEAD SET on not having my FH see me....saw the videos and actually REALLY liked this idea.
Its something to think about.....

That is funny!! I guess i'm not alone with my thoughts... lol. I'm hearing this 'reveal' idea alot now. It is something for us to think about! I'm actually ok with seeing my FH before the ceremony, he is the one that is more against it! I'll talk to him about the big reveal! I just don't want to feel stressed/rushed that day so this seems to be the way to go Thanks!

Re: Not seeing groom before the ceremony......
we're doing photos beforehand and pushed back our ceremony so that its right before cocktail hour with only an hour in between. we did so for a couple of reasons 1) we dont like having a big gap in between especially because almost all of FH's family are from out of town and will have nowhere to go 2) we want to be at our cocktail hour, cocktail hour as the best food!
so our ceremony is at 6pm and our cocktail hour starts at 8pm
ofcourse i would of loved to have the first time he saw me be as im walking down the aisle but now we wont be as rushed taking pictures and im positive that when im walking down the aisle towards him it will be just as special even though we already saw each other.

this is what we did.
but I found that it was a completely different experience when DH saw me walking down the aisle. I was worried that doing the reveal beforehand would lose the element of surprise when I made my entrance, but it was the complete opposite. Once the music started playing, camera's flashing, everyone's eyes all on me, it was like he was seeing me for the first time. Once your in that MOMENT, it's indescribable.
DH's face said it all

Re: Not seeing groom before the ceremony......
I am Jewish so we have to see eachother before the ceremony for the Katubah signing and veiling.
We are going to do the 'first reveal' then take pictures and go right from pictures to the Katubah.

Re: Not seeing groom before the ceremony......
im really starting to like this idea. my huge fear is to get so overwhelmed when i see him at the altar that i start balling my eyes out. FH's only request is that I limit the sobbing. Ive become a sappy cryer in my old age.

We're not seeing each other before the ceremony. We decided to stick with the tradition of the groom seeing the bride for the first time when I walk down the aisle. This is just us though. Don't get me wrong, I love all the pictures of brides and grooms and the 'reveal', its just not right for us.

Same here. The big reveal is the new trend going to not miss any part of the wedding....but I guess we are still traditional and don't mind missing CH. The family shots will be done earlier beforehand without us there.

I am doing a reveal and I feel that he will still get emotional at the ceremony when he sees me. I have seen plenty of wedding videos where the guy still cries even though there is a reveal.

I am not seeing him before the ceremony. However, I am getting married in a church so we have a few hours in between to do pictures.

Re: Not seeing groom before the ceremony......
We're going to do the first look. I want my bridal party to enjoy themselves and not miss the CH! I'd like to have all the pictures out of the way as well. I also want to see FH one on one before the actual ceremony so we can have a moment to ourselves. I wasn't sure if it'd take away from me walking down the aisle, but I've heard that it really doesn't and FH has told me that's what he's looking forward to most, even though we'll have seen each other already.

Re: Not seeing groom before the ceremony......
I was having this same issue because the church messed up the ceremony time on us & time is an issue now. We discussed it & decided we would rather not do a reveal, we thought it would be nicer if FH doesn't see me until I walk down the aisle. We will take as many family pics as we can before hand with our individual families & hopefully that will help. We understand we will miss CH which we didn't want to do but bridal party has promised they will make sure I eat lol.
