You have to figure if there is something specific causing the insomia. Have you been napping during the day? Are you stressed out over something? too much caffiene?
Have you tried meditation, herbal tea, serenity music?

I always try counting backwards from 1000 really, really slowly. I usually fall asleep by 750 or so.

Good luck!

Try Melatonin. You can get it in any drug store. My doctor recomended it b/c I was taking Ambien too often.

It really great!!!

I have trouble sleeping alot of times because my schedule changes so often. I find that meletonin works for me. I like it because it works very gently and I don't feel groggy the next day.

I have had trouble sleeping lately because of my situation.... the fact that i am sleeping alone.. A nice glass of wine or Tylenol PM has been doing the trick...

THat is a great cure! BUt be careful not to take it too often.. it will lose it's affect.. FH takes it sometimes when his work schedule changes and has to be able to fall asleep early and go to bed late..

another thing they say is don't remian in bed if you are wide awake....read in another room, watch, tv, etc....otherwise you begin to associate the bed with sleepless nights. Same thing goes for keeping the bed for just sleeping in (ok and one other thing ) so you don't associate the bed with reading or other sleepless activities.

I was just going to respond with kind of the same thing. If you can't fall asleep get up and do something it will help tire you out.

Also turn the clock away from your head so you're not watching the time tick away.

Re: Not sleeping well!

I don't recommend Tylenol PM. I took it two nights in a row once, and woke up in the middle of the night with the most unquenchable thirst I have ever had. Now when I can't sleep, I take a 25 or 50 mg Benadryl. The antihistamine puts me out in less than 30 minutes and when I wake up the next morning I don't feel drugged or dazed.
If you are going through some tough times, I also find that writing in my journal helps as well. You don't have to write in it everyday, but sometimes just venting on a piece of paper makes me feel better. Hope this helps!
