Not so good news from my Doctor

Original post by Sassy

I went for my annual, and I have an enlarged thyroid.
She took blood test, and by Thursday will tell me how we should proceed

Anyone have any info?

Re: Not so good news from my Doctor

My Aunt has Grave's disease and she has 2 daughters. I have hypothryroidism (no children yet, not TTC until early next year). Barbara Bush has Grave's disease.

Take a deep breath. You will be fine, you will conceive a beautiful child.

See the endocrinologist asap to ease your mind. Are you in/near the city? Any endorinologist affiliated with Columbia Presbyterian is good - I have seen a few of them. John Belezekian is excellent.

You will probably be put on medication, but it won't hurt a baby. In fact, NOT taking the medication is much worse.

FM if you have any questions.

I made an appt for 2/25 with the endocronologist. In the meantime I'll pop in to my Primary Care if they want more testing sooner.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks all for your support

Re: Not so good news from my Doctor

I know a few good endocrinologits, did you find someone? I'm sure you'll be fine, don't be scared. Lots of women have thyroid problems and get pregnant. It may take a little more work and time but its not that bad, trust me. Ask your sister, she'll say the same thing. I'll call you this weekend-we'll talk thyroid.

Thank you all for such wonderful support. I have done so MUCH research already and will continue to try and educate myself as much as possible.
So far, it does seem like there is hope. Like you all said, it seems like it can be managaeable. Plus I have God on my side, right
I will remain optimistic.

Tray, thanks, I checked out the site
Tammy, I found an endocronologist, but I may def. call on you if I want a 2nd opinion.

Thanks all
