I just called to set up a food tasting for my cake that my RH said they are getting my cake from for the wedding. I called to ask if I could come in. The woman on the phone booked my appointment and then tried to rush me off the phone without getting my name, then I said wait, you need my name. then she said oh yeah.. whats your name. I told her then she was like fine bye.. I then said oh wait.. how many people can I bring because some tastings you are only allowed to bring a certain amount of people. The woman puts down the phone and then I hear her and her boss making snide comments about me bringing people saying I can't bring the whole party. She comes back on the phone and was laughing. I told her I overheard the conversation and said that some places have a cap on how many people you can bring and I asked if that was her boss and she proceeds to tell me yes, but he was just joking, and I was like thats ridiculous. should I be aggreviated? and should I say something to my RH about this.. it left a bad taste in my mouth.. suggestions?

I called and spoke to the RH manager and explained to him what happened. He said he had never heard of this happening but would call and let them know its unacceptable. The bakery manager called me and apologized many times over the situation. It turns out it was him the young girl was talking too. He apologized again and said I would be taken care of on Sunday when I have my cake tasting. Hopefully he keeps his promise

Say something to your RH. Your paying good money to this company, and that is no way to speak to a customer. Ohhhh man, I'd flip out on that chick!

agreed! I would also let the RH know that although you appreciate the owner/managers apology, his behavior is just unacceptable and you would feel more comfortable going with an alternate vendor. U gotta make the point that you are uncomfortable though. I mean seriously what does said vendor learn from his actions if you continue to use him for your cake.

I am glad that you called and complained. That is ridiculous and so unprofessional. You are planning your wedding, you are going to be spending so much money at your RH and a portion of that is going to their bakery. You should not be made to feel dumb or annoyed in any way. They are supposed to cater to you. When I first read this I was thinking that I would have called my RH and told them that I refuse to order from them, but I am somewhat of a hothead.
When you go there, I am sure they will be kissing your a$$ and they should! hopefully everything will be perfect for you as it should!

I don't believe most bakeries do cake tastings for groups like you requested. Not to say that they should've been rude to you or joked about you while you were on the phone like that, but your request was a tiny bit out of the ordinary. Especially considering your wedding is over a year away.
To repeat: no one should ever treat another human being like that, so I do not condone their behavior.
But I could see why they were a bit confused, too. Since your RH is ordering the cake for you through them, your tasting should've been through the RH or arranged by them, and usually that would be just a few months before your wedding, so maybe next February or March.

ITA.
I had my wedding at CLM and never had a cake tasting and they even told me its not usually done. Im sure the bakery was kinda thrown off by the request to have the tasting and then to be asked how many people.....most times if you even have one its only the bride and groom.
They shouldn't be rude but Im sure they were just surprised.
My cake was amazing so Im sure it will work out.
