not sure if Im Pi%$&*d or disappointed

hi guys-
last sunday was our welcoming ceremony for Julianne. Things got a bit hectic b4 we got to the church, but it was smooth sailing from that point on.
During the ceremony, we were standing in the pulpit and rob would wisper when he saw someone coming in., He asked ' where's ---?'
That is whn I notice my best friend & her family were not there. Ii thought that maybe they were runniong late and we would see them at the reception.

NOPE. Got home- no messages.
SO, I called them that night and there voicemail system picked up. I left a mssg that I was concerend tht we didnt see them today, and would they let me know if all was ok.

NO CALL BACK. Granted, her hubby has a dumb habit of deleting messages and not telling her.
So when I was in the office on Tues, I emailed her at her job, 'is everything ok?'
NO RESPONSE

ok, so maybe Im dense but I called Sat morning. Her hubby answers and he sounds sick. Has a cold, says that they are on their way out to a wedding. I asked about my GF and he says that she has a sinus infection. I tell him to tell her to call me.

NO CALL yet. Then again, he doesnt always pass along messages- again a very annoying habit.

sso I guess I will just sit back and c what happens.
Maybe Im dense, but I think that even if you are sick, you should at least CALL and give me an apology.
She had a party for her son (my g-sons) the day b4 our welcoming ceremony. I told her that I didnt think we could make it, but in either case, we would c them on sun.
and, I snt out the invites to this party the first week of MARCH.

SO what gives?

I'm confused

I don't want to speculate about the reasons your friend didn't show, but I would be very hurt and annoyed if I were you.
She owes you a HUGE apology, whatever her reasons are.
I'm sorry that you have to deal with this.

Thanks JennRenee.. I THOUGHT so too,...but it look slike the only way I'm going to get on eis by calling her myself!

We are good friends...and at times we dont talk for a week or two- no biggie. But I guess at this point, I will just sit and stew until I hear from her.

Did she rsvp that she wouldcome ? (im assuming yes?) Why type of party was it for her son? (was it a first birthdayor something 'more important?') could it be that she was offended that you said you wouldnt go to her sons party ? Just trying to see what could possibly be her justification for this! (and there is no justification! she owes you an apology)
I would be very offended either way. especially since you had to pay for 2 plates where no one showed up !

I hope Julianne had a wonderful day !

Phyl .... I was thinking the same as Anna - maybe she was mad about you not going to her son's party, but what she did was RUDE and her actions are even more RUDE.

Just to relate ... my BF (exBF) did this to me - bailed on my bachelorette party and after the wedding, she moved to CA. I called her a million times, sent emails and nothing. She picked up and left without even a goodbye. I don't understand people - some are just downright MEAN!!!!

I would be very hurt and disappointed too. I think you will get a more definite idea of why she didn't show up when she calls you. If her son's party was teh day before could she have been THAT busy the next day? And no call?

I hate when people do stupid things b/c they don't have the courage to be real. Phyl, I am so sorry your friend did this to you - there are no excuses! She owes you a huge apology. I understand how you feel, tho. One of my 'friends' flat out lied to my face the other day, and I am really hurt by it, but there's nothing I can do about it. We can't control our friends.

I would definstely be hurt and disappointed. Out of respect for your friendship she should have called. We are here if you need to vent some more.

I agree with you and everyone else Phyl. Even if your friend is mad/upset w/you because you didn't go to her son's party, that's not an excuse for totally blowing off your daughter's welcoming ceremony and you for that matter. She definitely owes you an apology and an explanation! Especially since she RSVP'd 'yes' to you!!!!! I don't understand why people do the things they do. I'm sorry you had to go through this!

a bit more on this..

to asnwer annas ?s and a few others...
No, it was her sons 3rd bday- not a 1st bday etc. was mainly a family event. She did not send out invites, etc...just word of mouth.

She lives in bklyn and
I had told her that I had company sleeping over my house that whole weekend so I did not think I would be able to make it.

Yes, shes did RSVP for her, hubby + 2kids...so we were happy to know they would all be coming.

I had my g-dsons gift with me at the party and was going to have everyone sing happy bday to him but things turned out differently.
I mailed it to him and had a return reciept put on there. I want to know that it did arrive.

so...yeah- I am p'od and thought that maybe, just maybe I was losing touch ...but you all confirmed for me that unless she says otherwise, she blew me off.
rMy MIL thinks she will say she forgot about it. Hard to do since we were talking a few days b4 about it. And this from a person who called once and talked about how she feels disconnected...and how between work and family its hard to keep in touch with friends.

I did agree with her at the time..and said 'well at least we will see each other on SUN!' haha!

Re: a bit more on this..

Phyl you went above and beyond for her and EVEN gave her the benefit of the doubt when you shouldnt have

I know its your Godson, but she disrespected you and you deserve an apology. Wait it out a few weeks, and see if she comes around...

in the meantime, use your (positive) energies toward your precious baby girl ! no negative energies needed

Re: here is an update--

That stinks!!! Could she be holding your not attending her son's party against you!? I can't imagine why she would be *offended* that you couldn't make it the NIGHT before Julianne's welcoming party.

Frankly, I think she's being petty. She probably expects you to call (again!).

Sorry, Phyl.
