Just got engaged Saturday night and am beyond happy. I've heard so much about the site from friends who are getting/have gotten married but am not really sure what to do.....any suggestions where to start?

For starters, ENJOY YOUR ENGAGEMENT This is time for you two to revel in your big committment and dream about the big day! You will have plenty of time to start planning, but start gathering ideas with your FH in terms of what you envision your big day to be. Then hop on here and ask for suggestions! There is a wealth of info on here!

First of all - CONGRATS!
My advice would be to enjoy for a month or so. Just call every friend - share the news and relax. In a month or a little longer (we waited 2-3 months) started looking at halls. That is the first step - especially since so many girls change dates etc. b/c of the hall they book! After that - depending on your date - you may be able to sit back and enjoy a bit!

1) enjoy being engaged for now b/c you have plenty of time!
2) if you must start the planning like asap, (b/c of excitement) then start by doing online searches of halls.... get a feel for what you would like... places with 1 wedding at a time/by water/by gardens/etc
you can search halls for any area anf even get a map to show where all halls are in relation to one another

i agree 100%, this is such an amazing time in your life and enjoy it for a bit before all the craziness starts. I waited 4 months lol, not saying you have to wait that long but whatever you're comfortable with...Also do your research before you book anything, some ppl just go with what they like first and then later on regret it. Congratulations and happy planning

You should start looking at potential RH and visit them. Also, you would want book early so that you can lock in 2007 prices.

def. just enjoy it for a little while before you start planning. When you're finally ready the first thing we did was the RH & church then we took another break from planning.

Congrats! I say the first thing to do is enjoy being engaged, pick a date and then start looking at halls....you can always hold off on the other stuff depending on how long you have until the date you choose......good luck! thi site is very helpful

Have close friend (moi ) take you out for brunch so you can have alcohol in the morning while gushing over everything wedding related.

1st CONGRATULATIOn and welcome to the addiction
2nd Enjoy been engaged. Sit down w/ FH and decide what you want to do, what type of wedding, the budget, how many guests etc.. and from there start planning a wedding!!

Congratulations! Enjoy your engagement! Me and FH found out that its good to plan everything slowly and book things in advance. This way we can enjoy the engagement, get some of the planning out of the way, and save up money.

Definitely take time to enjoy the engagement!!! My best advice is just get the RH search out of the way so that you can take more time to relax before getting into the other details!
