Not sure what to do - DOC won't be at rehearsal

Not sure what to do - DOC won't be at rehearsal

So, when we booked our DOC months ago...she gave us this whole presentation and outlined what she would do for us. That included coming to the rehearsal to make sure everything went smoothly and to tell us how to line up and how to do the receiving line, etc.

Well, we met with her yesterday and find out she's actually working another wedding and won't be at our rehearsal. It's not a big deal because the lady at the church who runs the rehearsal will handle everything. BUT...I feel like the DOC should have told us she wasn't coming to the rehearsal sooner than a 3 days before and that she should even lower her price since she's not doing all of the services she had originally stated. I'm not sure what to do.

I didn't know how to bring it up with her. HELP!

do you have a contract with her that states she'll be at the rehearsal?

Does your DOC work w/ an assistant? Maybe the assistant could come to the rehearsal? Our DOC told us if she is working another wedding the night of our rehearsal she will send her assistant. Could work for you.

No, unfortunately, the contract is very general.

I will have to take a look at it tonight. I may call her to discuss it. I'll see if she has an assistant but I don't think so.

If it is who I think it is, she doesnt have an asst. I would let her know your concerns and see what she can do with the price. But I dont think RD is on the contract

If you can't get her to agree to anything else in place of not being there, I would alter the 'expected' tip accordingly. Should she complain, you can voice your displeasure over her only giving you 72 hours notice on the rehearsal.

This happened to me too, except that my DOC had also been MIA up until a week before my wedding. By that point, I realized that I didn't really need her at the reception at all and if she wasn't going to the rehearsal, then she wasn't saving me any time or effort by just showing up the day of, so I fired her and let her keep the deposit. Saved myself any further aggravation and expense. But I didn't really need her for very much as it turned out - your situation may be different. Good luck! And, I'm sorry you have to go through this.
