NOT TRYING TO START DRAMA BUT....

Original post by AJSBABYGIRL

Why is it that when a new bride comes on here people feel the need to 'show them how we roll'? REPRIMAND them for using caps and then proceed to try and be sweet and say I hope you find all the help you need here on LIW. Just because some people have pet peeves about certain things doesnt mean that others are bothered by it. If that was me getting that message for my first post I wouldnt bother to come on here anymore. All I am saying is that we should all be nice and let them learn the ropes without being critized the minute that they do something wrong in one person or the others eyes. Sorry just had to VENT!

If you knew Steph, you would know she is trying to be helpful, not bitchy. There are many of us who have been on this board for a while. We know what to do to get people to reply to our threads and we also know what will get the least responses. So as an experienced person on these boards, we like to help new people.

Steph wasn't being bitchy, she was being helpful. If you took it the wrong way, then it is a misunderstanding.

Peace ladies. We have common goals.

It's just proper etiquette to not use caps lock, it's considered yelling and rude and it is really hard to read. Just like any other etiquette some people either don't know or don't care. I think the other bride was just trying to be helpful.

I think a lot of us REALLY overanalyze the posts on this board...

Telling someone not to use caps lock is not the end of the world.

And how is calling out what you think was someone's poor etiquette okay when the person you are criticizing basically did the same thing you are -- only without starting a new thread?

Oh, come on. I didn't read the post, but anyone who has any experience at all with the Internet should know that all caps means yelling--not just on LIW, but everywhere. It's helpful to tell her that. She'll get fewer responses, after all. I know I don't read posts that are all in caps.

Couldn't agree with you more. It's not just an LIW 'thing'.

Re: NOT TRYING TO START DRAMA BUT....

I have a habit of typing with the caps on and I type in caps almost all the time on the '08 boards and I never have a problem...... I even type posts on different boards in caps because i dont realize it until i am finished and actually look up at the screen and by that poing I aint about to retype my post over again. I think this whole thread is rediclous who cares about caps or no caps if you cant read it dont read it. We are here for advice and wedding planning. I am not being nasty I just think the whole thing is rediclous. WHO CARES ABOUT CAPS. I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

I never realized caps was yelling and I post on other boards for different topics other than weddings. I like reading caps

But I don't think Stephanie meant anything by telling the new poster about etiquitte (sp?). Maybe next time, send an FM to the newbie. The poster may feel embarassed that you 'called them out' in front of everyone. I would probably be embarassed at first, especially if I am trying to fit into a social group such as this. That could be the point AJ's girl was trying to make. The post was far from rude. JMO

I definitely have to agree, my BFF/MOH always just keeps the caps lock on out of habit...she uses caps for everything not to 'shout' or to be rude....but she posted on here a bunch of times and I saw that on one of her posts someone actually told her that if she wants replies she should take the caps off because it's rude?????? I'll reply to ANYONE who needs help on here regardless if your caps lock is on, regardless if you spell things wrong, regardless of anything...if you're seeking help on this site who am I to say what you can and can't do...I'll help you all
