This baby does not want to put his/her down. Perhaps he/she does not like the idea of a headstand for a few weeks. Now I read that 11% of babies are still breech at 32 weeks and 3.5% stay breech. I told Scott we are playing Lotto this week. Maybe I will be in the % of winners.

Re: Not turned....my baby is comfy in this position
I am 34 weeks and 3 days...the midwife said that because of my diabetes they want the baby delivered between 37.5-39 weeks. I will do the natural ways to try to induce labor, not use Pitocin.

Is Pitcoin how they normally induce? What natural ways are there to bring on labor - walk 3 miles a day?!
You must be so excited - just a few more weeks! Is the house all ready for the baby?

Re: Not turned....my baby is comfy in this position
Michele, my GF's baby was breech, we said he was just nosy and wanted to hear everything they said and he was so crammed into her ribcage, she had a hard time breathing when she was laying down. Don't you think he has got a crown at the back of his head (even though he was a section) probably because of him being 'stuffed' up there?! I guess it could be worse....

The baby is in a circle...who could be comfortable in a circle?
Teri- Pitocin is a drug that can be adminstered to force labor. There are times that it does not work though. Normally it causes you to go into labor in a very unnatural way causing a lot more pain, very quickly. But your body makes pitocin- it has another name when your body makes it- and there are ways in which to increase your supply so that it can help aid in labor.

Michele .... so sorry to hear about your 'headstrong' little one!
You're talking about oxytocin. I've been reading the Sears books on birthing & pregnancy & there's a pretty substantial section on breech births. You may want to check it out if you don't already have it!

Michelle- I haven't forgot about our conversation. My friend and I have been playing phone tag. I will definetely get back to you with any tips on getting this little one to turn around. Have you thought anymore about external version? I know you are concerned about the risks to baby, but I also know you really don't want to have a section, and there are clearly risks involved in that too- to you and baby. Not advocating either way, just something to think about.

No external turning...a planned c-section is a lot less risky IMO. but that is JMO..not telling anyone else what to do.
Call me crazy but I have been reading about breech vagin al births. I know that not every women is a candiate but there are many women who do this sucessfully. I plan on talking to my midwife about it on Monday. Not sure what her position on it is though.

My brother was also delivered vagina lly in a breech position...but my mother was out like a light. I mean, put wayyyy under. That was over 30 years ago and she was put out like she was major heart surgery when all 3 of her children were born.

Niha- when I tried accupuncture for my nerve pain it did NOTHING...I cannot image it would help with this stuff....The only thing it did was make me $160 poorer.

Re: Not turned....my baby is comfy in this position
I don't know what you've tried. There is a trick where you place an ironing board on an incline next to the bed and lie on that, almost at a 45 degree angle. You would do that every day, as much as you can tolerate. Similarly you can lie down with your knees to your chest, also at an agle. You're basically trying to be almost in a handstand. I don't know if that makes sense. Let me know, I can explain it over the phone if you want. You may have already tried them, these are pretty common midwife techniques. I really wouldn't recommend a vaginal breech delivery. Vaginal breeches are very uncommon these days so most people don't do them well. A version is much safer or an elective section.

Re: Not turned....my baby is comfy in this position
I am doing the iron board trick, with the ice packs 2-3 times a day, but I cannot get into a near headstand because my back/neck felt like it was going to break. I can get my hips on the board and I put 2 big pillows under my lower back to help raise me a bit more. I stay for about 30 minutes. I try to do it 4 times a day, but it is hard to fit in with my insilin, eating, blood sugar testing, and I am still working until 10/31.
I also play soft music and visualize the baby head down. I often ask the baby to please turn.
Is it possible that the baby doesn't have enough room to turn?
