Do not drive to Long Island from NJ after work on a weekday !!!
FH and I went to see a DJ and it took me about 3.5 hours!
Besides mad, it made me worried because our wedding is on a Friday evening and most of our guests are coming from the NYC/North Jersey area.

Ceremony is at 6pm and Reception at 8:30pm. It's not that bad, but it is still frustrating.

FH and I live in jersey now too so we feel your pain. I try to leave work early when we have to go to long island
hopefully your guests will plan ahead and try to leave work a little early

Unfortunately, some guests may not be able to make it to the ceremony if they can not leave work early.

Yeah I definitely left a bit early on this day.... but it wasn't good enough. Anyways, I had to soothe myself by saying, those who are supposed/want/meant to be there, will be there on our wedding day.
That's something I thought about when we decided on this date, but I guess experiencing the traffic was frustrating!

I think as long as you give people enough notice they will make arrangements. If I knew I had a Friday wedding I would leave early. To me the ceremony is the most important part

Yes...I definitely agree.
We really wanted to get married on our anniversary and it happened to fall on a Friday. Luckily, it helped us with getting a lower price per person (especially because it happened to be lucky Friday 13th)!
Nevertheless, we will hope for the best and 'warn' our guests.

its also the summer- so alot of people are heading out to their summer houses. Since your wedding is in the beginning of May, the traffic shouldn't be as bad (HOPEFULLY)
