Notes for when I'm a bridesmaid

Since I am one of the lucky first of most of my friends to get married, I decided to keep a list of things to remember when it's one of their turns to get married. It's also helped me keep my stresses in perspective! Thought it might be fun to share and grow!

1) Don’t let the bride know all the bridesmaids hate each other. Play nice

2) Do let the bride know if you need financial help, don’t miss out as a result. But do not cry broke then show up with your newly purchased Coach bag.

3) If the Bachelorette party location is a surprise for the bride, someone should plan to pick her up to bring her there.

4) If you are trying to get pregnant, seek council of a doctor so you know for sure you truly aren’t (or are)!

5) If you order a dress via phone, have the bridal shop fax your order for approval so you can check the style number and color!

6) If the Shower invites get mailed with no address or even state, do not hesitate to get phone or email addresses to contact the invitees. Especially when most will be traveling.


Anyone have some to add.....

Do try and act happy for the bride even tho you canceled your wedding a year ago.

Do not tell the bride what she is doing is not something you would do.

Do participate in planning the bridal shower and don't leave it all up to the MOH and MOB.

Do not talk crap about the bride behind her back (especially at the bridal shower) because she will find out!

DO take down the contact info. of all the other BMs--it will come in handy when you have decided to drop off the face of the earth and suddenly need to know what is going on.

Give bachelorette party ideas that EVERYONE, including the bride, will enjoy--not just something YOU yourself want to do.

Wear comfy shoes the day of the wedding. After months of warning you, the bride won't feel bad when your feet start hurting after about an hour.

* Do not talk on my cell phone the entire time while looking at bridesmaid dresses and complain about how long it's taking (4 minutes into getting there).

* Do not look at wedding gowns while my friend is trying to pick out my BM dress (especially if you're not engaged or getting engaged anytime soon).

Do not tell the bride how worried you are about looking incredible on the day of the wedding. Remember..it's not about YOU!!
