Notifiying Bridal Party

I'm not planning on getting married until Sept 2010. My FH and i already pretty much know who our bridal party is. My mom thinks it's too early to tell them since we have almost 2 years till our wedding.

What do u girls think?

some say not to as until you get closer to the date cuz you never know what could happen.... my bridal party is all girls ive known since 9 years old plus my sister and fsil so i had no problem asking them from now (it was pretty much a given). It's really up to you, but just keep that i mind

are you having an eparty? i believe the bridal party should be told either at or b4 the eparty if that is the case, otherwise, i would wait till you have your RH booked, this way you can give them some info.

It would depend on how close you are, most of my groomsmen are either lifelong friends or a family member so I told them right away because I knew I'd still want them in on day of...

i asked the bridesmaids last week. i am only have my cousins so i decided to go ahead and ask them already. FH is waiting a little longer because he is not sure who he wants to have as his bestman yet.

i would say ask prior to the one year before mark. you should order dresses about 10 months in advance. plus you want to make sure everyone will have enough time to save up.

we asked ours a few weeks after we got engaged.....they are all family, except for 2 - but they may as well be family....they've been around forever

Im putting off asking mine because I have like 10 choices and I think that that is 2 many. I'm going to wait until it is closer to the wedding to narrow it down, things can change between now and then. Plus we all go to school together and I want to see who still keeps in close contact with me after we graduate this summer.

I have only asked one cousin and a SUPER close friend of mine (who also happens to be a 2010 bride, i cant get her to sign up for LIW though...hmph)

Everyone else i am waiting on, you never know what could happen...I still havent even picked a MOH either...

Re: Notifiying Bridal Party

i informally let my MOH know soon after we were engaged. and i have informally asked one of my friends, just to see if they could do it financially. I designed cards from Vista Print that I am waiting on. Once the date is firmly set, FH and I will probably invite everyone to a bar or something and ask them...or I may just send out the cards. First we need to get the church/RH date.

Our issue now is I have 6 girls in mind and he has 5 guys, so we are debating what to do. We both prefer even numbers. I think I may ask one girl to be a reader at the Mass. I know it will also save her $ by not being a BM, so I am hoping it all works out.

But how do you tell a potential BM they are no longer a BM?

Its usually a good idea to wait. Unless they are family members- then you know theres a good chance that wont change!

most of my bp knows I just havent officially asked. I will most likely make the 'announcement' at the year mark cuz one girl is annoying me already
