Yeah, it is All Souls Day, but why would that deter people to get married on that day? I wouldn't care, most people do not know that it's a 'holiday.'
It's a holy day of obligation, really, for Catholics, not a holiday.
Are they giving you a good price because it's unpopular? And, it may just be unpopular there - maybe they haven't gotten a lot of calls on that day for some reason - but for other halls, it may be very popular.

i agree - i don't think it should matter (i thought it was all saints day?); my parents got married on halloween, the night before.
it's not like it's christmas/easter. those are major holidays, not really all souls

maybe bc the church wont marry anyone that day, they might have something going on that day bc of the holiday, not sure though just guessing.

no the 1st is all saints day. the 2nd is all souls:
The Western celebration of the feast falls on November 2 and follows All Saints Day, which commemorates the departed who have attained the beatific vision. Since the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council the feast is celebrated on November 2 even in years when that date falls on a Sunday. In the traditional Latin rite, the observance is transferred to Monday, November 3 if November 2 is a Sunday, as the Mass for the dead and its black vestments is seen as inconsistent with the joyous nature of Sunday.

Re: November 1
i think it DOES have something to do with the church...we just went to a friends wedding this past friday on november 2nd and fh was in the BP so we went to the rehearsal dinner on oct 31st, i asked how much it wasnt done the day before and its bc it was all saints day, and i guess it is recognized by others too bc i remember there was no alternate side parking that day

All Souls day is November 2. All Saints Day is November 1.

Re: November 1
but they told her it was all souls day which really isn't a big deal and is on the 2nd; all saints day is a holy day of obligation on the 1st and a bigger deal but not if she's not catholic/christian.
i guess i wouldn't want them telling me incorrectly that i'm getting married on the 'day of the dead' if it's really the day of all saints

I wasn't too happy about hearing it was the day of the dead..... Is All Saints day a very religous day? Negative/Positive? Sorry, I'm not catholic. FH is but he isn't very informed about his religion.

Dont catholics believe in this more? You have nothing to worry about. If you and FH and the church is OK with it, then u are good to go!!!!!!!!!

it is but not in a bad way. I can't imagine that it would affect your wedding at all unless it's in a church then there might be issues like espo mentioned.
they are all related and consecutive - it's all halo's eve (aka halloween), all saint's day, all souls day. yours is on all saints.

Thanks!!
are you getting married at a church?
well actually the question was why is it not a popular date and the reason why is bc there are probably no church weddings that day just RH weddings so brings it down to a lower number
