I just read the post regarding is it too early to get a dress for a Sept 04 wedding....
General consensus is, NO! Now I'm worried. I thought 6 months was enough time... I was planning on all those extra months to drop the poundage.
Ugh. What to do. Order early and get the dress, and have A LOT of alterations do.. or wait until 8 or so months before, and have less alterations.
How many sizes can they go down in alterations?
What would be the latest time you order your dress?

Re: Now I'm worried...
If you want to wait then I think it is fine. I know I ordered my dress in Jan 03 for the July 04 and it is in already. So they will be able to get the dress in for you but if you fall in love with something then go for it.

Re: Now I'm worried...
it depends on the manufacturer. I had one dress that took 8 months to get in. You have time, remember, BE SURE IT'S THE ONE. Or else you might find a dress you like better.
Dresses can be taken in, but if it has a lot of beading up top I would be worried. Are you loooking to lose a lot of weight?

Re: Now I'm worried...
maybe you should go to a salon and speak to a bridal rep about your concerns. the seamstress at the salon will be able to give you advice. i hope it works out for you (i started the thread about buying the dress too early )

Re: Now I'm worried...
I got engaged in March, getting married in Sept - I went shopping for my dress in April and should have it beginning of August. You could start now or wait a bit. Either way - to put it very bluntly - they want the business - they will rush it for you. Don't worry.

Jenny -- Yeah, I'm planning to at least.. if I lose one pound a week.. hmm.. ... that would be.. a lot! I've lost 40 pounds already on WW since April, so who knows by then..
Groovy -- So my ulcer is all your fault! j/k *smile*
I have my Diva by Paloma Blanca catalog sitting on the coffee table.. maybe I should seriously consider going sooner than I thought to check them out in person...

I am waiting until August for the same reason. I hope they can get the dress in and altered in 7 months!

Don't worry about it- you will be fine.. the manufacturers ALWAYS say a year.. but to tell you honestly they will 99.9% of the time be able to do it within 7 months. I was engaged and married within 7 months and had NO PROBLEMS.
