I am going to Phoenix, AZ. in February so I can give you a review after. I have never been there. I loved Vegas. We stayed at the Aladdin.

Vegas is awesome, we stayed at the Monte Carlo, which I do not recommend. If we ever go back were going to stay at the Bellagio or Venetian.

I loved Phoenix! It is one of my favorite places. I stayed at the Phoenician (link ), and you have to go there at least for drinks. They have an outdoor bar on the base of Camelback Mountain that is AMAZING. Also climb Camelback if you get a chance!

I am going to Vegas for the first time in March with DH--he's been before but I never have. I would love to go to the Grand Canyon too but I don't think we will have time...

Definitely try a Prickly Pear Margarita! There were a bunch of little restaurants that were amazing...I will try to remember some names, but it was great trying the local cuisine...Great time, but AFTER climbing the mountain they warned me about scorpions!

I've done all of them. Can't advise too much on where to stay (a lot of it was camping) but I would advise you guys to go to Bryce Canyon. It's about an hour and a half from the Grand Canyon and IMO way better. You can hike through Bryce, which they really don't allow in Grand, and it's GORGEOUS. We did a 12 mile hike while we were there and it was soooooo worth it.

You can also do a one-day or even half-day rafting trip in the Grand Canyon. It is a whole different experience to see it from the bottom. I think it would be mostly calm water, though - you only hit rapids on multi-day trips.

i've been to all those places except san diego. i didn't like phoenix much and can't remember too much about the city. a pretty unremarkable place imo. i stayed with a friend so no recommendations there.

i've been to the grand canyon five times and have hiked it three times. there are plenty of opportunities to hike in the grand canyon, however you cannot camp in it without a permit. but there are several trails on the south rim that offer great dayhike opportunities. if you're going to go you must hike a little imo or else the trip really isn't worth it.

as for la we spent a week there last summer and didn't have nearly enough time to see everything. we stayed near near hollywood blvd for two nights (not a great area), in santa monica for two nights (very nice), and in anaheim for the rest of the time b/c we wanted to see disneyland. the getty museum in la was probably my favorite thing. it's not only a cool museum, but the grounds are gorgeous.

good luck with your trip planning and feel free to fm me with any questions.

forgot to add- in vegas i've stayed at the monte carlo (liked it, but it's not super fancy) and the tropicana (do not recommend!).

I love Phoenix and San Diego, three years ago I did my own little road trip there.. and also a road trip to Grand Canyon..

Best Western and Days Inn are good for people on a budget and usually include breakfast. Depending what time of year you go (right now is high season there, since it's cold here and warm there) you can get some great deals. The first time I went was in November and I paid on average $59 to $65 a night, but the second time I went in early Sept and paid $44 to $55 a night since it's still pretty hot there.

If you do the Grand Canyon, this is what we did, we drove to Sedona the first day (about 4 hours from Phoenix) stayed over night at the Days Inn (cheap and clean with bagels and coffee, juice, fruit for breakfast) Sedona is visually stunning and I highly recommend the Jeep Tour if you like roughing it.. it's a bit pricey usually $50 for 1/2 day. But you can also drive to Slide Rock yourself and have a great time.

The next day we drove to Grand Canyon about 4 hours from Sedona if you take the senic route, stayed over at the Best Western (clean, not as cheap but better breakfast..lol) went back to the Grand Canyon the next day to take the helicopter tour (also pricey but unforgettable!)

Driving back we stopped in at Prescott since we have friends there, to stay over (we stayed and Spring Hill suites, about $75 a night but great breakfast and beautiful rooms since at the time it was a new facility)

So all in all the trip took 4 days but was well worth it and not as expensive as I thought it would be. The only drawback is packing and unpacking each time we move to a different hotel.

On my San Diego Trip we just passed through Vegas, gambled a little had lunch and kept going because we wanted to stay in San Diego for three days. We stayed at the Best Western and it was great, very easy to travel to and from the major tourist spots there, like the Zoo (a must see) and the beach of course!

Hope it helps!

Re: Now My DH decides to tell me that he'd rather goto the Grand Canyon then Disney.

Well my Best Friend lives in Vegas so ive been there before. And My Dh went with me 2 times. Ive stayed in Harrahs cause my parents get free comps. My DH and I stayed in the Venetian and you know what it was my favorite hotel but we got treated like crap by hotel staff. When we went for the last 2 nights of our honeymoon we stayed at the RIO and loved it and we have free rooms now at the Rio and Harrahs.

I went to the grand Canyon and I can't remember the hotel we stayed in. Thank you all for your ideas keep em coming.

I have been to San Diego, but I don't remember where we stayed. It was so beautiful. I didn't go but some of my friends went to the zoo and said it was really nice. We went to this BBQ place called Love's, it was off the hook!

DH and I went to Vegas twice. We stayed at Bally's and MGM Grand. I preferred MGM Grand by far - the rooms were so much nicer. The spa at both places were nice, but MGM's is more serene and calming.

We're going to MGM in March! Anywhere special we should go? Anywhere you could recommend?

Paris in Vegas was really nice and I had the best massage I've ever had at their spa.

Definitely book a treatment at the spa. It is so nice and relaxing. Make an appointment before your trip bc sometimes they book fast depending on how busy it is.

They have some great restaurants, so any you choose will be good. We went 4 yrs ago, so I don't really remember the names of them.

If you have a standard room, they will upgrade you to a deluxe for a reasonable price if it's available. We were able to do it for $20/night so a total of $100 for the whole time.

I plan on doing that same trip this year. When are you thinking about going?
