So JT spoke to his mother the other night and said that we were coming to see her and his father today. So fine. I planned my day accordingly to that. SO we go, and they're NOT THERE! No note, no nothing. Then JT tells me, 'Well, she said that if it was nice out, they were going to go to some festival, but she would call to let us know not to come. So no call and the weather was crappy, so we went. She never called us, and didn't even bother to call us tonight to apologize! I'm so sick of her. She COMPLAINED UP THE ARSE that NO ONE came to see her this week.....meanwhile I had plans to go spend last Wednesday with her, but she told me 'not to bother.' Now, those of you who have been on here for a while will remember the sh!t I've put up with coming from her, and since she found out about her lung cancer, things have been fine because I have made a HUGE effort to suppress all hostility. But she is so negative and caniving, I cannot take it anymore. I'm let my opinions loose on her one of these days and I am scared of what's going to come out of my mouth !

Why didn't JT just call before going to make sure she was there?
I would have done this personally... especially if the trip to get there exceeded 15 mins.

My dad (also lung cancer) pulled a similar deal on me. I wanted to kill him-he went on a 6 hour joyride with my mom while I drove 2 1/2 hours to see him and he wasn't there. And he's on narcotics so he shouldn't drive.
I think part of it is they are trying to take control over something in life because the rest of it is not under her control.
Just be patient. You can't change her, just learn how to deal with her...
I have since adjusted how I deal with him and things are fine. And he still drives
