Re: Now that you are all married.....
I think it depends on how many things you have planned for the day. For example if everything is taking place at your hall, you might not need one. But I took pictures (not at reception hall), had a church ceremony etc. , so I really needed someone there to make sure everything was running smoothly. Also, I felt I needed one because my family is large and unruly and I didn't want them driving me crazy that day. I also, wanted to make sure that there was someone to deal with any problem vendors (if there were any). Unfortunately there was one and I would have flipped my script if she wasn't there to help take care of things. So, if you can find one within your budget, its worth considering.

Re: Now that you are all married.....
I had one and in my opinion, it was the best money spent (and it wasn't that much considering how much aggravation she saved me). She was the person who did all the things you would normally do yourself, except you're too busy being a bride!
I think it all depends on what you want. I pretty much planned the whole day myself, and knew exactly what I wanted - so I told her everything and she made sure things went the way i planned, coordinating it with the hall. I'd say the best thing she did for us was during the cocktail hour - she stayed a few paces behind my DH and I and would gently nudge us every few minutes to keep moving. If she hadn't done that, we never would've been able to get to everyone during that hour and we would've had to spend time during the reception going around to all the tables (which we didnt want to have to do). The way my DH talks, we would've spent the entire hour talking to one couple!
It's purely an individual choice, what works for some people doesn't necessarily work for others, but i definitely don't regret having my DOC!
