NOW they want to know if I can find LONG SLEEVED BM DRESSES!!!

I was questioned by a member of FH's family because 2 of my 3 girls (convienently NOT the one in FH's family) want strapless or tank strap dresses.

Apparently FH's family discussed it - WITHOUT ME AROUND- and decided that the girls should have LONG SLEEVED BM DRESSES.

um, helllloooooo - MY WEDDING! And WHERE exactly do you want me to find these long sleeved dresses?!?!

Sometimes people should just SHUT IT!!!

Why do they want long sleeves? Is it a modesty thing? Do they want the girls covered up?

Maybe you can compromise with a shrug or wrap or something, but don't let them dictate what your wedding party is going to wear.

I'm just remembering all the weddings that I have been in over the last few years and I would have worn a paper bag if that's what the bride wanted! Pick what you want

and you know, its not like the CHURCH, LIMO, HALL, HOUSE are all heated or anything...

I already bought them pashminas...but enough already! come on!

I actually had to pull up BM dresses on websites just to prove that the designers aren't making dresses with sleeves.

Seriously, just GO with your BM's and pick out what you like- they will just have to DEAL with it. And by that time, it will be too late to do anything anyway. Tell them you tried to find their 'requests' but were unable to... and TOUGH SHIIT ON THEM!

I had kind of the same problem, FMIL is extremely conservative and thinks bare shoulders are inappropriate in a church. Unfortunately, since two of her daughters are in the wedding party and they are 16 and 13, she is paying. So what I did was get the dress I liked for everyone and she will be having shawls made out of the dress material for her daughters. Maybe that would work?

Get what YOU want.....its very nice that you're trying to make everyone else happy.....but in that process you are likely to drive yourself NUTS.
Go with what YOU want.
Last time I checked, it was YOUR wedding.
I know that sounds insensitive, but you need to be in charge....its your wedding.

Also.....long sleeves will be very HOT and uncomfortable......

My girls wore strapless.....but had a wrap to cover their shoulders during the ceremony and outdoors.

Ugh - people need to keep it quiet. Sometimes I feel like saying, you had your wedding and made your decisions, leave me to mine.

And I have never seen a long sleeved bridesmaid dress in my life. (and my life is longer than most of you!!)

Nicole, this is what you say to them...

yes, it will be November, but we are not having an outside bbq!!!

The girls and you will also not be hanging around outside for hours upon hours! The church and RH are heated!!!

I have no sleeves on my dress and neither do my girls and my wedding is a month after you.

It was practically 60 degrees on my wedding day in November! My girls would have had to hack the sleeves off if they had them. Tell them 'YOUR DAY, YOUR WAY!'

I don't know if this is an option for you, but I picked a designer and a color and I'm letting them pick their dress. So that each person could get something that compliments their body. One of my girls hates her arms, so she picked a dress that has a wrap, my sister has huge boobs so she got a halter for more support and so on...

Makes no sense - Your wedding - Your way - When will people understand that??

I would try to talk to them and explain what you like and the difficulties you might be having finding a dress with sleeves - There are so many other things to be concerned with than sleeves

I would go with the dress you & your bridesmaids want. Don't the girls have to pay for their own dresses ?? They should at least wear something they like right ? Once they're inside dancing at the wedding they're gonna be so hot in long sleeves. I'd do a wrap if it's a real issue.....gives them an option.
