NRC Review from friend...

Hey girls -

My BM went to a wedding at NRC yesterday and she said it was really nice. She loved how the cocktail hour was outside and inside, she said the decor was gorgeous and the cocktail hour was awesome.

Her only complaint was - 'the cake was ugly' (of course!!) and she said the Chicken entre wasn't as good as the other dishes, which people raved about.

Also, she said the whole wedding felt very intimate because of the way the hall is set up.

Great!! I'm so excited too! I wonder if she was at JessNYC's wedding?

Girls just so you know, i got to pick out my wedding cake from three different ones.

The ugly one I found to be the square box one that was very flat and too big. They now have a tiered oval one (nice) and a circle stacked one (the nicest) - i went with the last one...i will post mine when i get married.

I just got a call from Jenny and when I meet with the maitre'd tomorrow they will have a sample cake for us to taste (I requested carrot cake w/ cream cheese icing). I spoken w/ George at our tasting months ago and mentioned I wanted to try the cake and he remembered hooray!

Just got back from my menu meeting with George. Everything was great - I am so excited!!! The hall looks beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous as usual. We picked our entire menu and don't need to go back till the week of the wedding to drop stuff off!

Unfortunately my cake was not ready today - because the icing needs to be frozen so I'm going out tomorrow to pick it up!!!!

i love the NRC! our meeting was terrific. we chose the round stacked cake, yellow cake with strawberry filling. yum! i was going to go with carrot cake, but my fh wanted to have a yellow cake. i figured since i have made all of the decisions for the wedding, i might as well give him this LOL!!

What else do you gals discuss? Did you pick your linens? What colors did you pick?

Anything i need to have prepared?

I picked the ivory tablecloth to go over the ivory brocade and the taupe napkins. I thought those colors compliment the room and make you focus more on the flower arrangements. Oh they have new window treatments! No more blue!

I would look over the menu before hand. We took forever b/c we did not look at it since we got it. They we so accomodating! We are having 'a kosher style' reception: no shellfish, pork or ham. They gave us a 9th cocktail hour station to choose from and we went with the martini bar!

AWESOME!! I want a ninth station!! LOL

Like the idea of the new curtains--can't wait to see them! we go on tuesday for all this good stuff. we want a chocolate outside cake! so exciting

The cake was amazing - the carrot cake was super moist and delicous and the cream cheese icing was to die for. I gave them a picture of the cake I wanted and they said it wasn't a problem.

They added a 9th station for me during the CH as well - they didn't say why.

We also picked the linens and went over beer, wine, etc.

MrsBrad you should have all your menu selections pretty much decided on and you will basically go over everything for your wedding. The next tme you return is just to drop stuff off and then to GET MARRIED!!!

b/c we are having so many people and also, there will be no seafood, ham or pork at the wedding so they threw in some extras.
