N(R)WR -- going off the pill

N(R)WR -- going off the pill

So, I've been considering going off the pill, but I know that the hormone shock will be hard on my system... I already get headaches from taking this particular pill, and the main reason I went on the pill in the first place was pain (not se x). I did try to go off once before and it was horrible...

I want to start this nowish so that I'm not miserable or in terrible pains during my wedding or honeymoon, etc... Anyone who's done this before, any tips? Should I wean myself off of this, or would that be screwing with my system even more???

I would not wean, I would finish a complete pack and then stop... but even though personal experience might help you with your decision I would speak to your doctor about it, anytime I've messed around with switching, stopping or whatever with birth control I talked to her and she advised me. I had a crazy hard time when I went off BC but I have wacky hormones due to an ovarian condition (which is part of why I'm on it too). My experience was likely due to that more than the regular effects of stopping BC.

I stopped taking it in July- the only difference I see is Im VERY VERY VERY emotional/mushy/irreitable the week before my period comes. LoL but since FH and I know this is the cause of it its somewhat of my 'get by free pass'. He understands and he's been great with it. But oh man am I bad w the PMS- I laugh at myself sometimes!

Re: N(R)WR -- going off the pill

Thanks girls. I'm considering going to my dr, but I just don't want to pay the copay and would rather just go when it's my time to... (It actually might be, I have to check!!)

I don't really want to mess around with it by trying to wean or anything, but I feel like I'm totally stopping cold turkey in a way, you know? Part of this was FH bc he sees how my headaches bother me so much (every month I get like a 3-day migraine) and I think that this new pill (ha! over a year and a half now) is part of my lowered drive... So we talked about it and I said he's going to HAVE to be supportive bc it's going to be hard especially at first......

Probably just condoms... I've gone through enough with the pill and all its effects (and maybe tmi, but cleaning up afterwards). It's his turn....
