Numbness in limbs......

Numbness in limbs......

When I do leg exercise or stretching...my left leg goes numb. I feel tingling in my toes.
Last night in pilates I felt like I was moving a dead leg. Should I be concerned?
Anyone have this happen to them?

DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN? HOW OFTEN DOES IT HAPPEN? IF IT HAPPENS AL OF THE TIME, I MIGHT BE SLIGHTLY CONCERNED ONLT B/C IT COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO W/YOUR CIRCULATION. IT COULD BE NOTHING, BUT THINGS LIKE CLOTS AND STROKES ARE SCARY. I HAD A BRAIN ISSUE BUT WE FOUND OUT ABOUT IT THROUGH HEADACHES. OTHER SYPTOMS ARE TINGLING EXTREMETIES, DR ALWAYS ASKED ME ABOUT THAT.

Re: Numbness in limbs......

It's not always numb - but last night it freaked me out because I felt like I had no control over it. I'd say it happens every other time I work out maybe??

I'm due for a physical, I'm going through something unrelated now and just don't want anything else to worry about!

I would mention it at your physical just to make sure and at least put your mind at ease.
Good luck.

You might have a pinched nerve in your back that acts up now and again. Talk to your doctor or go to a chiropractor.

This is very interesting Februarybride--my brother is having the same problem!! Only he's experiencing it all the time and in his arms as well as legs.
He got blood work--if I find out anything, I'll pass it along!

Go get it checked out. It's probably nothing big but numbness is not something to ignore.

Re: Numbness in limbs......

You should definately check with your doctor. I had numbness in my foot and leg for several months and pretty much ignored it. Unfortunately for me that was not the best thing to do because it turned out that I had an extensive blood clot in my leg. The only way that I found out was that when the clot finally closed up the vein my foot and leg swelled up and turned purple. And it happened overnight. Mine was really bad and I have been out of work since the end of December because of it. I would suggest getting it checked out as soon as possible. Best of luck.

Re: Numbness in limbs......

DH has that prob. His is severe and for the most part constant. Turns out he hsa problens with the discs on his spine. He had one surgery on his neck and will be going for another in a month or so. My advice is to get it checked out right away. Some of his numbness will never go away due to nerve damage. If he had put off going to see his nuerosurgeon the damage we be much more extensive.

Re: Numbness in limbs......

Shannon in answer to your question I had to have 2 surgical procedures done and during one of them a titanium stent was inserted into my ilyiac vien (it is a vein in the pelvic area). The stent is permanent so now we joke that I am a woman of steel. I also had to have a 24 hour dose of TPA which is a clot busting drug. It is very dangerous to take because it takes away all the clotting factors in your blood. I actually spent 6 days in ICU after I took it until my clotting factor was back to an acceptable level. I also take warfarin (an anti-coagulant) every day and I have to have weekly blood tests to make sure that the medication level doesn't have to be adjusted. The last doppler sonogram showed that the clot hasn't moved at all (good news) but that it has only minimally disolved (bad news). According to my vascular surgeon it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year for the swelling to go down and chances are it will never go all the way down. It has been 3 months so far so it can be a while longer. I cannot wait for this to go down so I can go back to work and living a normal life!
