Good Morning Girls, I need your advice on this. FH and I will be getting married at 10:30 and our cocktail hour will proceed at 1:00. At first, we thought we only wanted to have the shorter, 1/2 hour wedding ceremony at our church but after going to our friends wedding this weekend, we both realized that we would prefer to have the nuptial mass instead. When we met with our priest a few weeks back, he told us that if we have the 1/2 ceremony, plan on being at the church for about an hour and if we do the nuptial mass, to plan on being at the church for at least an 1 1/2. Our parish is in Amityville and our reception is at the Fox Hollow so distance isn't too much of a concern. I figure if we do the longer mass, we can expect to leave the church around 12:00. I guess my concern is allotting enough time for pictures while still being able to enjoy some of the cocktail hour. Do you think I would be cutting it too close??? As always, thanks for all of your help
If it really means a lot to you...than you can always take pics before hand...
but speaking as a non-catholic guest...I would prefer the shorter mass...but you should please yourself...not your guests...

Re: Nuptial Mass vs Short Ceremony
I have been to a few 10:30 masses with 1PM receptions and the couples seemed to have enough time. If you both want a Nuptial Mass and it means a lot to both of your families, then have it. Marriage is a sacrament to be taken seriously. The mass is beautiful. I am doing it. I couldn't imagine it any other way.
