Re: Nurse
There are a few ways to become a RN. You can get your associate's degree (2 years), go through a diploma program (usually three years, those programs aren't as popular as they were in the past), or you can get your bachelor's which takes 4 years. Alot of colleges/universities have a program if you already have a degree, so it doesn't take as long (usually 1 1/2- 2 years). I have been a RN for four years, so feel free to FM with any questons. I love my job.

Re: Nurse
You can get ure associates in nursing in 2 yrs (once ure pre-nursing classes are finished), but a lot of hospitals now prefer a bachelors, which is 4 yrs. While the salary's in NYC are great, I do have to say that if u don't have ure heart set on nursing, don't do it. It is highly stressful and you have an enormous amount of responsibilites. Its hard for me to pinpoint what exactly nurses do, we do everything in the hospital!!! The salaries in LI are a little lower than NYC. I think starting now in NYC is close to 70K, in LI it's a little lower. Once again tho, don't do it for the money, and don't do it if u really don't have ure heart set on it, u'll be miserable! HTH!

Re: Nurse
My sister just finished her LPN through Boces. She just passed her exam too. She's going to get a job in a hospital and then they'll pay for her to become an RN.

Re: Nurse
i have been an RN for a year now and got my asscociates degree (2year) program... most Long island hospitals only require an associates, manhattan hospitals prefer bachelors. You cant go wrong with the job, its 3days a week and the pay is awesome, plus there are so many opportunities available to you. FM if you want more info
