Nursery Budget?

DH asked me to make a budget for him just so he knows how much to put aside each month from now until the baby comes.

I've been buying everything bit by bit so that it won't 'feel' like such a blow to our bank account, but I was at the bottom line!

So-how much did you spend on the nursery?
Everything-furniture, bedding, paint, wall decor, closet organizers...anything having to do with the little one's room?

We've already spent more than $2500 just on the furniture (crib, dresser/changing table and armoire). And that's all we've done so far! We have registered for the bedding and such, along with wall decorations and things, but we're really hoping we have some generaous relatives who will help us out by getting them for the shower.

On another note, I plan on spending some good $$ on a glider and ottoman. That's as far as decorations/furniture go. The nursey room in our house is really cold, so we are replacing 4 windows (its a corner room with 2 windows on each outside wall), plus putting in new closet doors. So I can't yet figure out how much the total is going to be. But I'd say middle of the road.

ETA: I voted more than $4000, which I was hoping was middle of the road, but is at the high end of your poll!

We actually budgeted $5000 for the nursery and have spent just about 4k to date

We don't have set dollar figure, but our furniture has already cost us $3K. LUCKILY, this baby has very generous grandparents who all offered to pick up most of the tab. We thought that was really sweet.

Not sure how much will have to be done to the room/house since we don't have one yet so that's where most of our money will go
