I'm diabetic, and I have lost that amount of weight, using a 1200 cal. diet, much like weight watchers!! You can definitely do it! The reason I have not been able to lose recently, is because I've been on Atenolol, which impairs insulin release, which in turn, would mean I wouldn't have enough insulin to break down sugar, etc. And since I'm diabetic, I'm already insulin impaired!! You can do it!! Mary MOB

Linda -- im sorry your so unhappy and having a hard time!

Maybe if you go to WW you'll be able to find other diabetics that are having success.

And dont think your not the only one struggling - my dress is very very tight (almost doesnt fit) so i joined WW 3 weeks ago and have only lost 1.6 total! Unfortunately i think part of the problem is being in my 30s has really slowed my metabolism!!

But i know from past expereince you have to find the right combination of eating / excerising that works for you - and then you'll achieve your goal.

Good luck sweetie!!

Cindy, you're so right about being in your 30's, and slower metabolism! Debi's going to be 34, and her Dr. told her it would be harder to lose weight. Mary MOB

If you are diabetic I would strongly consider SB; my FH and I have been following it for over a year now and both have lost over 40 lbs; it's easier to do if you already avoid sugar. If you stay on Phase 1 (no sugar at all) you can easily lose at least 30 lbs in a few months time. If you combine w/exercise you will likely lose even more. Some people don' t like it, and haven't been as successful, but it totally changed my life

I am 28 and finding it harder and harder to keep fit, etc. You really do have to make a lifestyle change. I do too...This year I have managed to stay my ideal weight for 1 year. Usually its up 5-7, down, up, down, up down, PITA!

Also I am just curious if you do cardio. I am a big advocate for running. Even if you cant do much...start off slow, jog a half mile and walk 2 miles. Then the next day do alittle more, alittle more alittle more! You will see amazing results! Weight lifting is good to!

You can do it, I know you can!!!!!

Linda, hon, I feel your pain!!! Tell me why the insulin pump adds weight. I don't really know much about them. I'm Type 2 Adult onset, from 1999. When first diagnosed I sat in my chair and cried. Have you been diabetic since childhood? Mary MOB

i have beein insulin dependent since i was 5! i'm not sure why the insulin pump contrutes to weight gain i am still new to it( i took shots for the past 24 years), but the doctor told me that this morning, i think it has to do with the fact that m sugar levels aren't 100% yet so i'm taking alot of insulin. its just all very frustrating, i will just have to work extra hard!

My suggestion would be for you to visit a nutritionist who will take blood work and put you on a meal plan that will work for you!

5 years ago I went to a nutitionist and followed the plan. I worked out 5 days a week and lost 80Lbs in 7 months.

I have since gained back 40......

But I am working on it!

I'll be all ears!! My urologist thinks I should go to a nutrtionist, because I have a tough time knowing what to eat!! I'm diabetic, lactose intolerant, and am on a bladder irritant restricted diet!!!! As you know, diabetics are not suppose to eat a lot of meat, about 4 oz. a day, so eating a lot of protein, to lose weight, is not an option. One time after listening to Suzanne Summer's diet/food pitch, I wrote her a letter, never hearing back, that I was concerned about all the protein in her diet that she advertises, and she did not, in my opinion, say enough about diabetics exercising caution with her diet. about protein.......if you can have whey, there is a metobolic protein shake you can buy at costco. It blends with water and has a great taste! It is by the vitamins.

I never heard anything about diabetics not eating meat, my doctors have always instructed a low carb diet for me, lots of lean meats

Ask about it. It was on my original diabetic diet list. I believe protein is considered hard on diabetic kidneys. Mary MOB
