FH's friend's is throwing her daughter a first birthday party and baptism at the same time. NOrmally for a 1st birthday i would get a toy. But I know for a baptism people usually give money???FH and I are both not religious people at all so we are clueless on what to give..
A toy and money are alot for us now with the wedding coming up.... what would be an appropriate gift for birthday/baptism -- what amount of $$ do people usually give? This is just a friend/ not family.
TIA!!!!

Re: NWR: 1st Birthday/Baptism Gift
A lot of people do savings bonds for baptisms. You only have to pay half of what the face value is, but at maturity (like maybe when the kid goes to college) they will get the full value. Maybe you could do that and something little like a puzzle or book or something just to have something wrapped as the birthday gift. Good luck!

I think a cute idea could be to get a savings bong and attach to a bank. You can get cute personalized banks for about $15. It is just something a little extra.

My friend did the same thing! I wonder if this is a new trend. I bought this really great musical chair that I previously bought for my FH's niece and she loves it! so i just bought another one of those since it went over so well. And it was only like $20!
Then I put a check in the envelope made out to the baby. (I assume they have/will have an account set up for him)

We can get a $100 bond.. and get a cute personalized bank.. would that be good (would the bond cost $50?) not sure how that works.

I would either give money or jewelry if it was a little girl. For my nieces baptism I gave her a heart necklace that had some little diamonds in the middle.
