NWR a laundry question

NWR a laundry question

So... I know you're 'supposed' to separate darks and lights.

But... I don't really separate. I will wash something red by itself the first few times but after that... all bets are off. I guess I don't own many white clothes...

Do you always do lights/darks by themselves?

And do you towels separately?

i never separate ... i don't have enough whites for that.

i'll put towels in a diff load only if there are enough of them to actually fill the machine ... if it's just one towel, it'll go in with my clothes.

random question - why do you ask?

in the rare occasion that I do laundry, I always wash the towels separately. Sheets that I change every weekend are separately as well, although I do usually throw undies in the garment bag thing in there as well.

i always separate. i have had white things turn pink or brown from colors that had been washed many many times, so i always separate.

I always do towels separately. But....since I only do laundry one day a week...i try to get it all done in as few loads as possible. So mine goes like this...

Load 1 - all darks that I can get in 1 load.

Load 2 - lighter clothes

Load 3 - all the left over clothes. I really don't care...I just throw them in together. So far so good!

Nope. I hate doing laundry period. If I had to go through and separate things, I'd probably just buy new clothes to wear. And things with special instructions? 'Wash on cold with like colors, lay flat to dry.' Hell no. I won't buy you or I'll wash you however I so choose.

And I do towels and blankets/sheets together usually but I do throw the occassional towel in with my regular laundry.

I don't seperate unless it's something I feel is going to bleed. I do..

1. sheets
2. towels
3. denim
4. sweatshirts, sweatpants and pj's
5. everything else.

I NEVER separate... whatever is dirty and can fit is going in. the only time i separate is if i have like 3 loads to be done and i only have time to do two, i'll separate my 'work' clothes, 'dance and lounge' clothes and my 'i wont be wearing this for another week or two anyway it can wait' clothes

why should u do towels separate?

Re: NWR a laundry question

If you don't separate darks from lights, the clothes may not noticeably bleed to the point that they stain your white clothes, but they WILL get dingy and grayish looking after a few washes.

I sympathize with the not having enough lights to do a full load though. Shout makes these sheets that are like dryer sheets but they go in the washer... and they act like dye magnets... so if you wash darks and lights together, the sheet attracts all the extra dye int he water so it doesn't settle into your clothes. Seems to work pretty well.

I do separate actually, but I wash my jeans with towels and sometimes I'll throw my yoga pants in there too, especially if I know i'm going to wear them soon.

If I have a ton of laundry I'll separate the whites but 9 times out of ten everything gets thrown in together with the exception of towels which I always do separately. I'm a terrible housewife.

FH usually does the laundry (I'm a lucky girl), but he just takes everything and throws it all together. So far, so good.

Anything that needs special care, I try to bring to my mother's house so it doesn't get tossed in with the usual mess.

I separate darks and lights, but I don't separate whites altogether. I just don't use bleach.

When DH does the laundry, it's a free for all, lol.

Yes, I usually do towels separately, unless it's just like one towel.

Re: NWR a laundry question

i only separate whites if they are a load that needs bleach... if not they go with lights....
generally:
1 - darks
2 - lights
3 - demin or heavy materials that won't get yucky with denim
4 - sheets
5 - towels
