Diane my jaw dropped and I totally feel like I wanna slap your MIL for you!... and I'm not usually like that but reading what she put you through makes me so upset!

I totally understand your frustration, anger and pain! How dare her! WTH!!! You KNOW that you're a great gal and that you have a lot to offer your FH! She is just jealous as most (well many) women are when their sons fall in love!

My FSIL told me that my FMIL would prefer if FH wasn't with anyone! :shock: She's never mean to me, but at the same time, I'm not surprised! MILs are crazy! In my case, my FMIL AND FSIL are crazy lol! They just say and do unnecessary things and I'm noticing it more now that we are engaged!

Like you said, just deal with her when you MUST. You're in a relationship with your FH- not with her, and you should not have to deal with that.

I am so sorry. That was terrible of her to do. I would feel just as bad. I'm very sensitive and would have reacted just like you. I hope this works out for you!

Im so sorry for you and your FH loss....I know how crazy psycho FMIL can be...I have one!!! The women is my best friend one day and the next day is giving me some type of attitude about something..like I need to compromise on things for the wedding...uh hello no I don't We are paying for it and it is OUR wedding.....she also outdid us by marrying her boyfriend in St.John on May 1 of next year when ours is May 9 of 2008...nice huh....If you need to vent about anything please feel free to FM I know how it is!!

luckily my fmil was burned badly by her fmil.. so i lucked out that we have a verry close relationship (ive also known her since i was born--but i have learned a lot from her experiences)

1. mother of sons are insane.. a good 99% of them anyway..
2. that which doesnt kill us only makes us stronger..

4. you get her son.. shes lonely.. thats why she is lashing out..

6. grandkids are leverage.. tell her to cut the effin crap or she'll only see them through pictures..
7. just because she gave birth to your fabulous fh doesnt giver her any rights what so ever..she has to earn respect like everyone else..

I was so sorry to read about all the craziness between You and your FMIL. She sounds so unreasonable. But she's always going to be your husband's mother, so keep doing what you're doing... avoid her as much as you can, and then vent to your girlfriends! Jennie above gave some great advice - I know more than one couple in which the MIL didn't approve of the marriage... until grandkids were involved. Then all of a sudden, they did a 180. Also, the suggestion of slipping 'Monster in Law' into her stocking - awesome.

Hang in there! It's not her you're marrying; you'll get through this.
